Chapter 75: That Writing

This New Year holiday was probably one of the most complicated few days Mu Le had ever experienced. But starting the year by winning in a game? That should count as good luck, right?

Ahem… just kidding. Overall, once she got rid of the stressful stuff, it wasn’t so bad.

Xiao Yuze’s parents treated her incredibly well, almost as if Mu Le were their real daughter and Xiao Yuze was the one they “picked up” by chance.

Of course, when the holiday ended and she returned to her own little space, she finally felt a sense of relief.

Even if Xiao Yuze’s parents were kind and easy to talk to, there was always a subtle pressure around them.

Back in her familiar space, that feeling finally faded completely.

But once she returned home, Mu Le realized a fairly serious problem…

She hadn’t updated anything in the past few days.

She remembered herself being a diligent writer, so when did she become this kind of lazy, delay-prone author?

Since her transformation, skipping updates had become almost normal.

It could be summed up in a few words, “go with the flow.”

Sitting in front of the computer, Mu Le held the mouse as the cursor jumped between her game and her writing software.

Finally, she sighed lightly and opened her writing program.

Games brought happiness, but writing was what kept her alive in her own world.

Besides, skipping updates for several days made her feel a little guilty.

After her transformation, Mu Le’s writing had been off. Even the novel she had been working on struggled once it reached the middle. She just couldn’t capture the feeling she had before.

Though her thinking was the same, her emotions and the way she expressed them in writing inevitably changed after becoming female.

In short, her writing had gained a more sentimental, delicate tone.

To avoid completely losing the story in the later stages, she had already decided to finish it as soon as possible.

The real reason she hadn’t updated? Well… Mu Le was just being lazy.

As they say, writing isn’t as fun as dating, especially when meeting the family!

“This month, I’ll just finish this book.”

After stretching her slightly cold fingers and reviewing the plot and outline in her mind, Mu Le began typing at a rapid pace.

She focused so hard that she completely lost track of time. So when Xiao Yuze returned in the afternoon, he found her still typing away intensely.

He raised an eyebrow but didn’t interrupt her. Instead, he made a cup of steaming milk tea and placed it on the nearby table.

Mu Le glanced at him briefly, then kept typing as she said, “You’re back?”

“Mm.” Xiao Yuze nodded and sat down beside her. “Take a short break. Drink the milk tea.”

“Not yet… I just got into the zone,” Mu Le replied, fully concentrating back on the screen.

After a long while, she finally pressed the last key with a heavy sigh of relief.

“Phew… done!”

She twisted her sore waist from sitting too long, rubbed her fingers, and looked at the saved document with a satisfied smile.

Instinctively, she reached for the cup of tea next to her, but was gently tapped by Xiao Yuze, who had just stood up.

Seeing Mu Le’s slightly puzzled expression, he shook his head.

“This has been sitting too long, it’s already cold. I’ll get you a fresh cup.”

Without waiting for her response, he picked up the now-cold milk tea and walked out.

Mu Le blinked, wanting to say that cold tea wasn’t a big deal, but she didn’t.

After finishing her writing and tidying up, uploading it, Mu Le suddenly lost interest in the game.

She was never really a gamer, she only played out of boredom.

Plus, because of her clumsy hands, most online games on her computer didn’t survive more than a week.

Even Xiao Yuze, who had played online with her a few times, admitted that given her poor skills, it was impressive she lasted as long as she did.

The game she played the longest? Tetris. It was still saved on her computer.

Don’t underestimate Tetris. It was actually fun, and you could even build little houses when bored.

With no interest in gaming and no urge to catch up on shows, Mu Le shut down her computer. She pulled out her phone and took off her jacket, ready to crawl into bed.

January was cold. Even with the heater on, her small feet, only covered by cotton slippers, were freezing, and her typing hands were even worse.

Mu Le had always found it strange. She wasn’t weak or overindulgent, so why were her hands and feet always so hard to warm?

Summer was fine, but winter was frustrating. Warming up the bed took forever, and her upper body felt warm while her lower body stayed cold.

“It’s almost time to eat. Why are you hiding in bed?” Xiao Yuze said as he walked in, seeing a little lump under the blanket.

“Time to eat?”

Mu Le froze for a moment. After grabbing her phone, she realized she’d been writing all afternoon.

She frowned slightly and reluctantly crawled out of bed.

The serious expression on her face, like she was facing some huge decision, made Xiao Yuze laugh and shake his head.

He placed the cup of tea in front of her. “Drink this to warm up. It’s cold today, put on your clothes properly. Even with the heater on, you could catch a cold. Pajamas plus a jacket, what if you get sick?”

“Got it, got it. You’re such a nag, Mr. Adult,” Mu Le said, taking a small sip while mumbling.

Hearing this, Xiao Yuze’s expression darkened. He flicked her forehead lightly.

Seeing her innocent face, he sighed deeply. “Stop fooling around. Put your clothes on quickly, we’re going out to eat.”

“Eh? Go out to eat?”

“Mm. A new restaurant opened nearby. It’ll be nice to go out for a change.”

Though cooking at home was fun and full of atmosphere, a little change of scenery was even better.

Mu Le hesitated briefly, then agreed with him.

In the past few days at Xiao Yuze’s house, Xia Ling had been cooking. Her skills were impressive, and Mu Le had learned a lot from her.

After returning home and spending the afternoon writing, Mu Le didn’t feel like cooking at all.

The new restaurant, however, sparked a little curiosity in her.

With renewed energy, she finally let go of the warmth of her bed, quickly dressed, and got ready to go out with Xiao Yuze.
