Chapter 84: That Novel
When there’s no holiday, you feel bored. But even when there is a holiday and you have nothing to do, you still feel bored.
However, compared to before, Mu Le’s life now felt much fuller.
Aside from a certain man surnamed Xiao, who kept asking for more again and again, making her feel both embarrassed and a little annoyed.
For a man, doing it two or even three times sometimes probably feels like an ideal life.
But when the roles are reversed and you’re the one being “pressed down,” it’s not such a great experience. At least, that’s how Mu Le felt.
Also, since the holiday had just started, even though she had nothing to do, Mu Le still chose to stay in the apartment with Xiao Yuze instead of going home to help Mu Cheng prepare for the New Year.
Of course, with her father’s busy personality, unless it was New Year’s Eve, even if she went home, he probably wouldn’t leave his study anyway.
Mu Le was already used to that.
And as she grew older, the feeling of the New Year had gradually become weaker. It was no longer like when she was a child, full of excitement and expectation.
But it was still too early to think about that now.
In the early morning, before the cold in the air had faded, Mu Le opened her eyes.
She rubbed her eyes and yawned, getting ready to get up. But as her gaze shifted, it naturally fell on the note pressed down on the bedside table.
She paused for two seconds, then reached out and picked it up.
‘Wake up early. I’ve already made breakfast. Be good and eat it, I’ll check. Also, if you sleep the whole day again, be ready to accept punishment tonight.’
At the end, there were a few shameless extra words—’To my beloved and beautiful wife’.
Mu Le glanced at it, yawned, and expressionlessly crumpled the note into a ball before throwing it into the trash.
She got out of bed, picked up the clothes she planned to wear, then slipped back under the blanket again. But as she was about to take off her pajamas, she saw the clear marks on her body and frowned slightly.
“Have I been too tolerant with him?”
Too much indulgence wasn’t good. Mu Le touched her chin, her expression thoughtful.
Getting out of bed in winter was definitely a kind of torture, especially during a holiday when she could sleep in.
So after struggling for quite a while, Mu Le finally got dressed. After washing up, she appeared in the living room.
She reheated the breakfast Xiao Yuze had prepared. Even though she didn’t have much appetite in the morning, skipping breakfast wasn’t good for health. Yes… it was definitely for staying healthy, not because she was afraid of the “threat” in the note.
After eating a little, Mu Le held her phone again, but felt like she had nothing to do.
Her novel was almost finished. The last few chapters were already written, she just needed to post the ending.
Without writing, although she had more free time, it felt like something was missing.
As for starting a new story, she hadn’t decided yet. In fact, ever since she became a girl, she felt like she didn’t have enough energy, so she was hesitating about whether to start something new.
For Mu Le, writing novels was just a hobby. She kept doing it because she liked it.
But without realizing it, something more important seemed to have appeared in her life.
So she began to wonder, should she give it up?
And then… seriously try to be in a relationship? It didn’t have to be dramatic, but at least when she looked back in the future, there should be something meaningful left behind.
Even though the two things didn’t really conflict, Mu Le doubted whether she still had the energy to build new worlds in her writing when her mind was already filled with someone else.
And honestly, she had no idea what she wanted to write next.
So after breakfast, Mu Le sat in front of her computer in a daze. Leaning back in the soft chair, she looked a bit confused.
She opened QQ. The message she edited yesterday was still there. It was about asking for advice on her new story idea.
But when she opened the input box, she suddenly didn’t know how to reply.
Give up? She felt unwilling. Keep going? She somehow felt tired.
In fact, Mu Le knew she shouldn’t be so troubled over something like this, but…
Compared to worrying about her novel, she actually wanted Xiao Yuze to take her out to have fun, to do more interesting things together.
Whether it was an amusement park or a zoo, in her memory, only Mu Cheng had taken her there before. If she went with Xiao Yuze, it would probably feel completely different.
She also wanted to go shopping and eat lots of delicious food. Even though she didn’t like walking much, thinking about it carefully, it didn’t seem like a big problem.
There were so many fun things to do, and many of them could be done together.
Even just staying together and saying nothing could still make her feel satisfied.
But…
“So annoying.”
She scratched her hair, feeling a bit frustrated.
At that moment, a notification popped up on QQ.
She paused for a moment, then tapped it.
ZY: “Getting ready to finish the story?”
Looking at the simple profile picture and name, Mu Le suddenly felt a bit nostalgic.
Ever since she became a girl, she hadn’t talked much with this rich reader.
She stayed silent for a moment, then replied.
Le Mu: “Yeah. Long time no see, Brother Z~”
ZY: “Long time no see. What kind of story are you planning to write next?”
This question made Mu Le pause again. Just what she didn’t want to think about.
But after hesitating for a while, she still chose to answer.
Le Mu: “Well… actually, I haven’t decided whether I’ll start a new story yet…”
ZY: “What’s wrong?”
Le Mu: “Of course I want to take some time to be in a relationship!”
ZY: “……”
Her unexpected answer made the other side fall silent.
After a while, just as Mu Le was about to say something, a big red packet suddenly popped up on the screen!
She tapped it without thinking. When she saw the 200 yuan inside, she froze.
What… does this mean?
Just as she was wondering why she suddenly received money, the other side sent another message, only two words.
“Wedding gift.”
Seeing those simple words, the corner of Mu Le’s mouth twitched.
After a long moment, she finally typed “thank you” with a stiff expression.
The reply came quickly.
ZY: “But I think you should keep writing novels.”
Mu Le hesitated slightly. “Why?”
ZY: “Because if the person you like knows that you gave up something you love for them, they wouldn’t be happy either.”
This time, Mu Le was truly stunned for a long time.
ZY: “Of course, that’s only if you really like writing.”
Looking at his last message, Mu Le finally couldn’t help but smile.
It seemed… she had been overthinking things.
But it couldn’t be helped. She had been so used to being taken care of by Xiao Yuze that just thinking about him made her feel a bit off.
But…
Le Mu: “I think I know what I want to write for my next story.”
ZY: “Oh?”
Mu Le didn’t reply. She just slightly curled her lips into a smile.
