Volume 1 Chapter 57: Hoping There Won’t Be Any Misunderstandings
“How could that be!” Tang Xingwan, who was getting more and more carried away with her thoughts, suddenly realized something was wrong and couldn’t help but shout out loud.
Her sudden reaction startled Bai Muxue. The hand holding the cup shook, and she almost dropped it.

She felt like she had been hit by some kind of random “attack” for no reason.
The night grew deeper. A strong wind suddenly blew from the dark end of the street, shaking Amber’s long golden hair.
She put her hands behind her back and walked slowly through the narrow, dim alley. A pale yellow floating light beside her gave her a little bit of brightness.
The surroundings were completely quiet. The only sounds were her footsteps and the soft tune she was humming.
Something is not right. It’s too quiet here…
This old street existed before the Wangdu City was fully developed. Even though many residents and shops have moved away and it is not as busy as before, it should not be this silent.
A short distance away, the street across from her was still brightly lit.
Amber recalled the information she had checked before coming here while thinking to herself.
Moonlight passed through the clouds and fell in broken patterns on the unpainted walls, creating strange shadows that moved with the wind.
The buildings on both sides of the street were silent and creepy. Every window looked like an empty eye, watching her every move.
Even though Amber looked relaxed and casual, as if she was not worried at all, the slight frown on her face showed she was actually uneasy.
The dim light stretched her shadow long behind her as she followed the faint light forward. Finally, she stopped at a certain point in the alley.
“Ah, found it! I knew something was wrong here!”
As if she had finally found what she was looking for, Amber showed a small smile. Her bright eyes looked at a very clear claw mark on the wall.
Around the claw mark were sticky circles of blood. Under the dim light, they gave off a strange shine. The blood slowly ran down the wall, forming winding trails that gathered on the ground.
Amber followed the direction of the blood with her eyes until she saw messy footprints at the end of her vision.
“Alright, let’s see… front wide, back narrow, edges unclear. Definitely not human footprints. Is it a disaster beast? No… too small for that… maybe a monster?”
Amber crouched down and gently touched the blood near the footprints with her pale fingertips. The blood had already started to turn dark brown, but it was still slightly wet.
“The blood still looks fresh. It was probably left not long ago…”
Amber slowly stood up. Just as she finished speaking, that strange wind blew toward her again, bringing an unknown cold feeling. Even the floating light orb seemed to dim a little.
The girl snapped her fingers. The light orb flew straight into her eyes, making the golden color in her eyes shine even brighter.
As Amber went deeper into the alley, the footprints on the ground became more and more dense, and the strong smell of blood in the air became more and more clear.
Using her magic-powered eyes, Amber could clearly see the dark corners of the alley. In the end, in a hidden spot beside a nearby apartment building, she finally found the real reason why this place was so quiet.
Several pale men and women were lying on the ground. On top of them were strange, twisted creatures. These monsters had pale skin and glowing green eyes. Their sharp fangs were deeply stuck into the victims’ necks as they greedily drank their blood.
“…Vampire-type monsters?”
Amber had seen news on TV before about a hero named Amethyst defeating bat-like monsters. She had also fought similar monsters before, so she was not too surprised.
But these ones seemed much smaller than the vampires she had seen before… and they didn’t feel as dangerous.
Still, no matter what these monsters were, if she left them alone, more innocent people would be harmed. So they had to be destroyed. Amber only needed to know that.
The girl took a deep breath and quietly placed her hand on her gun holster. She could clearly sense that some of the vampires had already noticed her arrival and were hiding in the shadows nearby.
But Amber showed no fear at all. Instead, a faint smile appeared on her face.
Even Amethyst could easily defeat stronger bat monsters, so why couldn’t she?
The moment she pulled out her gun, one vampire suddenly jumped at her with its clawed hands raised, its face twisted and vicious.
Amber quickly stepped aside. A flash of white light passed before the vampire’s eyes. Its sharp claws were cleanly cut off by a silver rapier.
At the same time, a glowing star-shaped bullet shot straight through the vampire’s chest. The monster let out a painful scream, its body shaking violently before turning into a wisp of white smoke and disappearing into the air.
“Tch, that’s it?”
Facing the vampires surrounding her, Amber held a sword in one hand and a gun in the other, showing a look of clear disdain.
“Who’s next?”
Clearly, these monsters still had some sense left. After seeing their companion killed, fear appeared on their faces, and none of them dared to move closer.
The two sides stood in a tense standoff for a long time. So long that the golden light in Amber’s eyes slowly faded, and darkness began to take over her vision again.
The vampires clearly noticed her weakness. The moment the light in her eyes disappeared completely, they immediately rushed at her with their sharp claws.
But before they could even touch her clothes, Amber smiled proudly. One by one, glowing orbs popped out of her pocket. A bright white light burst from under her feet.
The vampires immediately let out painful screams. In an instant, they were completely wiped out, turning into nothing.
“Ha… their weakness to bright light hasn’t changed at all… anyone could figure out I wouldn’t just stand still and let myself be attacked…”
Amber shook her head with a half-smile, half-sigh, and without stopping, ran deeper into the alley.
