Chapter 19: The Little Writer’s Love Confession

Mu Yi could clearly hear her own heartbeat.

Thump, thump.

It was beating very fast.

Even though she often lied, pretending to confess to someone was still quite difficult.

Especially when the person was someone she disliked the most right now!

But since she had already come this far, she couldn’t back down. She secretly took a breath, widened her eyes, looked at Gu Zhiren, and said with determination.

“I like you!”

Hearing this, a faint light flashed in Gu Zhiren’s calm eyes. He couldn’t help but roll his eyes, then turned around cleanly to face her.

“You like me?”

His voice was firm, but his tone had no emotion. Even though it was a question, he already seemed to know the answer.

“Yes. If I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t work so hard.”

Mu Yi puffed her slightly red cheeks and tilted her head, her face full of sincerity and shyness.

“You know, confessing to a man, someone like me, it takes a lot of courage. I’m already prepared for you to reject me.”

She grabbed a pillow and buried half her face in it, leaving only her clear eyes looking at Gu Zhiren.

Gu Zhiren stayed silent.

Then the white-haired girl frowned slightly, lowered her eyes, and made a soft sound like a small cat. She threw the pillow aside and limped forward.

“But even if you reject me, I won’t give up easily. You can only be mine! You’re not leaving tonight.”

She spoke as if claiming him. She stopped in front of him, raised her delicate face, and looked straight at him with her red eyes, her long eyelashes trembling slightly.

Gu Zhiren frowned and glanced at her, then looked toward the door before rolling his eyes again. He felt a bit annoyed.

He already had a clear idea of her intention.

But because of his upbringing and good manners, he forced himself to stay calm. He simply sighed helplessly in his heart.

“How much do you even know about me, to say you like me? Do you usually bother men like this?”

As he spoke, Gu Zhiren turned and continued walking toward the bathroom. He still wanted to wash his hands. While walking slowly, he added in a firm tone.

“Just to remind you, keeping someone in your home against their will is illegal.”

Hearing the word “illegal,” Mu Yi’s eyes trembled a little, and she felt a bit nervous.

But she had never really planned to trap him or do anything like that. And judging from their difference in strength, she clearly wasn’t his match.

It was like a small cat and a big tiger in the same house.

They were both from the cat family, but if they really fought, everyone knew the small cat would be defeated instantly.

Mu Yi swallowed.

“Can you speak more nicely? What do you mean I usually bother men? And now you’re talking about crimes?”

She gritted her teeth, her hands at her sides tightening, her palms slightly sweaty.

“I only act like this because I like you. I just like you too much, so I can’t control myself. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself. Why did you appear in front of me?”

Things were starting to go off script.

Mu Yi hadn’t expected this kind of reaction to a confession between men.

And he even asked how much she knew about him.

They had only met a few times. All she knew was that he had a sharp tongue, always argued with her, might be overly protective of his sister, and was an annoying guy who liked to interfere in her life.

“Then tell me, how much do you know about me?”

Hearing the slight arrogance in his voice, Mu Yi pressed her lips together, feeling annoyed.

Wasn’t he just trying to make her praise him?

As a light novel writer, she had plenty of words in her head. She could easily write hundreds of words to praise someone. Poems, descriptions, anything.

But when it came to praising Gu Zhiren, she couldn’t even come up with a complete sentence.

Just as she was struggling to think, Gu Zhiren came back after washing his hands.

Mu Yi looked up at him.

The moment their eyes met. It felt like the air slowed down, like the world suddenly went quiet, as if only the two of them were left.

Her mind was still racing.

Gu Zhiren glanced at her, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly. He rolled his eyes again, then looked away and let out a quiet sigh.

“Can’t say anything?”

He deliberately raised his tone.

“…Fine, I admit it. I don’t know you well right now. But that can change over time. What couple fully understands each other from the very beginning?”

Mu Yi argued stubbornly.

“Don’t you think your words sound weak?” he replied.

After saying that, Gu Zhiren turned back and looked straight into her eyes.

“You don’t even know me. Aren’t you afraid you’ll regret it later? What if I’m actually a dangerous person? Someone who looks normal outside but is cruel inside?”

“Uh…”

Mu Yi suddenly had nothing to say.

What he said made too much sense. Why hadn’t she thought about this before?

What if Gu Zhiren wasn’t straight?

What if he actually liked men?

Then her plan would completely backfire. Instead of trapping him, she might end up trapped herself, with no way to escape.

Thinking about this, Mu Yi’s imagination started running wild.

She imagined herself stubbornly continuing her confession. Then Gu Zhiren would push her onto the sofa, looking down at her.

Her hands and feet tied, unable to move.

She would look at him with tears in her eyes and say,

“Don’t come closer! If you do, I’ll scream!”

And he would just smile without saying anything.

Then…

Mu Yi suddenly snapped out of it, her face turning pale.

No way… that can’t be real, right? Someone like him couldn’t possibly be like that… right?

She had been unlucky lately, but it couldn’t be that bad…

Her thoughts were still wandering when Gu Zhiren narrowed his eyes slightly and let out a soft sigh, speaking with a hint of disdain:

“Now you’re scared, huh?”

Hearing this, Mu Yi immediately straightened up again. She gathered her courage and lifted her chin.

“I know you’re just trying to scare me. Don’t think I’ll back down because of that.”

She looked straight at him and said loudly,

“Gu Zhiren, I like you! I, Mu Yi, like you!”
