Chapter 30: Great at “Selling Out” Teammates

The office building door was pushed open. Walking out were Gu Zhiren and Gu Anran.

And the one who opened the door for them, the CEO’s assistant, Xiao Xi.

“Brother, why did you come to pick me up in person today?”

Gu Anran carried her bag happily, hands behind her back, walking behind her brother.

Hearing this, Gu Zhiren moved his lips to reply. But before he could speak, a familiar figure in a suit entered his view.

It was Shen Muxue.

The slight smile on Gu Zhiren’s face remained, but there was now a hint of cold caution. He didn’t think this was a simple coincidence.

After all, this was where Gu Anran worked. He only came today because their mother asked him to pick her up. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have come here at all.

Most likely, she had found out his schedule somehow. He couldn’t think of any other reason for Shen Muxue to appear here.

Before he could say anything, Shen Muxue stepped forward half a step, her expression serious.

“Can you give me a few minutes? Let’s talk again.”

Hearing this, Gu Anran glanced at her brother, then softly said she would wait in the car and left first.

Gu Zhiren didn’t turn to look at his sister. He also withdrew his gaze from Shen Muxue. Slightly frowning, he spoke in a firm and unquestionable tone.

“If President Shen wants to talk about the 35 million… There’s nothing to discuss. Please leave.”

After saying that, he turned decisively. Under Shen Muxue’s gaze, he walked with Xiao Xi toward the car parked nearby.

His straight back looked firm and resolute, completely cutting off her last bit of hope.

Mu Yi still hadn’t given a clear reply. Shen Muxue had thought there might still be a chance to turn things around. After all, everything had risks, no one could guarantee success.

But now, she had no choice but to take the gamble.

She clenched her fists, her eyes cold and ruthless.

Completely unaware of her plan, Gu Zhiren got into the back seat with his sister.

Xiao Xi started the car from the driver’s seat.

After the car had been driving for a while, Gu Anran seemed to think of something. She pressed her lips together, secretly glanced at Gu Zhiren, then took out her phone, looking a bit cautious.

“Do you want to say something to me?”

Noticing her behavior, Gu Zhiren turned his head and asked.

“Uh… ahem!”

Gu Anran hurriedly covered her mouth with her hand, took a breath, gathered her courage, and held up her phone. She leaned toward him and opened a message in QQ.

It was a chat between “Canned Little Fish” (Mu Yi) and Gu Anran.

“Battle royale? No problem, beauty. With me here, just go forward without worry!”

That was Mu Yi’s reply when Gu Anran suggested playing games all night.

“What about it?”

After a quick look, Gu Zhiren didn’t see any problem at first.

“What do you mean ‘what about it’? Brother! You really don’t care about Mu Yi at all.”

As she spoke, Gu Anran sat up straight but still leaned slightly toward him. There was worry in her eyes as she sighed.

“Mu Yi hasn’t updated a single word today. I was just testing him, and she actually agreed! You’re the one supervising her. Don’t you have any thoughts about this?”

Gu Zhiren looked at his sister with a subtle expression. After hearing her long complaint, a faint, amused smile appeared on his face.

“Thoughts? What thoughts should I have…”

Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted:

“But compared to that, I’ve found something even more important. Brother, take out your phone.”

“What do you want to do?”

Seeing how serious Gu Anran looked, Gu Zhiren raised his eyebrow in confusion.

“Just take it out first!”

Hearing this, Gu Zhiren frowned slightly. After a short silence, he took out his phone.

Following Gu Anran’s instructions, he quickly opened the chat with “Sun Umbrella.”

Different nicknames, but the same profile picture, the same chat bubble style, the same frame.

When placed side by side, even the way they talked felt similar.

It almost seemed like “Sun Umbrella” and “Canned Little Fish” were the same person.

And by coincidence, both accounts were named Mu Yi, both claiming to be male.

After Gu Anran pointed it out, Gu Zhiren suddenly noticed more similarities between the two.

When too many coincidences happen at once, they stop being coincidences.

Even so, Gu Zhiren still wanted to deny it.

“Shall we open the profile pictures at the same time?”

Gu Anran said eagerly.

Hearing this, a trace of hesitation flashed in Gu Zhiren’s eyes. Then he calmly lifted his gaze and gave his sister a faint smile.

“If it’s impossible, why waste time proving it? Don’t overthink it.”

“We’ll know in seconds if we just check!”

Gu Anran widened her eyes.

The siblings looked at each other in silence. At that moment, even Xiao Xi, who was driving, couldn’t hold back and added,

“Boss, it wouldn’t hurt to just check.”

Hearing that, Gu Anran seemed even more confident and nodded strongly.

Still frowning, Gu Zhiren looked at his sister and then at his assistant. The smile on his face deepened slightly. With a helpless feeling, he closed his eyes briefly and nodded.

Then both of them opened the QQ profile at the same time.

The result… was exactly what Gu Anran expected.

It was the same string of numbers.

Seeing this, Gu Anran couldn’t help but cheer excitedly. But Gu Zhiren frowned deeply. In his narrow eyes, mixed emotions surged as he fell silent.

This was not the result he wanted.

Mu Yi, the one who lied so easily and annoyed him, was actually the same Mu Yi who once protected him like an angel?

They were the same person?

It felt like fate was playing a cruel joke on him, so absurd that it was hard to believe, hard to accept.

And yet, he had no choice but to accept it.

Gu Zhiren sorted through his thoughts, recalling his recent interactions with Mu Yi.

But no matter how he thought about it, he couldn’t find more similarities between the two.

It was as if the person in his memories had disappeared, existing only in the past forever.

“Brother, how can something this coincidental even happen? Even novels wouldn’t dare write this!”

Gu Anran said excitedly, tilting her head.

Hearing this, Gu Zhiren looked thoughtful. He glanced at her and then showed a faint, knowing smile.

“You seem very excited. But for now, don’t tell Mu Yi about this.”

Seeing her nod, his voice slowed down as he continued,

“Go home first later. I have something to take care of.”

“You’re going to see Mu Yi, right? Ah… looks like my ‘Canned Little Fish’ won’t be able to play games with me tonight. So pitiful.”

Hearing this, Gu Zhiren only let out a short laugh.
