Chapter 312: Watching a Web Drama
“Then do you know my birthday?”
An Han smiled sweetly. Her smile always made dopamine rush through Su Peng’s body and gave him a natural feeling of happiness.
But this time, when he saw that sweet, gentle, pure smile with a little charm in it, Su Peng couldn’t feel happy at all. Instead, a cold feeling ran down his back, and his heart almost stopped for a second.
Had he ever celebrated her birthday before? Had she ever told him the date?
After searching through all related memories in his head, Su Peng hesitantly said, “October…?”
He watched her expression and saw her face instantly darken.
“It’s definitely not October! Then maybe March…”
An Han still had no expression as she said, “You might as well just list all twelve months and then ask from day one to day thirty-one.”
“You never told me.”
“This weekend.”
She rolled her eyes at him as she put the folded clothes into the wardrobe.
This weekend, February 24, was her birthday according to the normal calendar. She usually celebrated early at home during winter break.
According to tradition she should celebrate her lunar birthday, but after doing that once at home, she didn’t feel the need to celebrate again at school.
Honestly, if her mom hadn’t reminded her on WeChat, she herself would’ve forgotten.
Su Peng quickly wrote her birthday in his phone’s notes. Only then did he realize that An Han was actually a week younger than him.
A “older-boy younger-girl” relationship? That added a strange little sense of excitement.
“If you tell me once, I won’t forget,” Su Peng promised confidently.
But right after saying that, he started having a headache. What kind of gift did An Han like?
Based on what he knew, roses, candlelight dinners, things that were romantic but not practical, weren’t her style.
It would be better to give something useful… A game skin?
But since this was the first time he was going to her birthday, giving something like a game skin might seem too casual.
An Han didn’t ask for a gift anyway, and honestly, she also didn’t know what she wanted.
Her life didn’t have many things she desired. Her phone and computer were good enough, the rental apartment was big enough, she didn’t need more clothes, and she had zero interest in fancy luxury things.
Without thinking too much, An Han had already walked to the balcony, picked up the mop, and filled the bucket, planning to mop the floor and clean the house.
Finally she had a day off, yet she still had to clean dozens of square meters by herself.
Back in the dorm, even that less-than-20-square-meter room she was too lazy to clean. She always waited for Wang Sheng, who had mild cleanliness issues, to give up first…
She put down the mop, turned off the faucet, and took out her phone.
“My good sons! I’m having my birthday this weekend. Two girls will be coming. You guys coming?”
“+1”
Wang Sheng must have been sitting right in front of his computer, because he replied instantly in the dorm group chat.
Seeing him take the bait, An Han was delighted.
“Bring your own snacks you like. And don’t make my place messy. If you do, you’re cleaning it yourselves.”
“Okay, Junjie and Brother Long will probably go too.”
After settling the plans with Wang Sheng, An Han stretched lazily, ready to shower and take a nap.
But Su Peng had already taken a wrung-out cloth to start cleaning. When he saw her coming back from the balcony empty-handed, he asked,
“Not cleaning anymore?”
“My birthday’s this weekend. My dorm buddies will definitely come. Even if I clean now, it’ll all get messy anyway.”
“True.” Su Peng put down the cloth. “So what gift do you want?”
“Nothing in particular.”
“Then… how about I treat you to a really nice meal?”
An Han shook her head very quickly. She had gone to fancy restaurants with Su Peng twice. The food was good, but the whole place made her feel uncomfortable. She really couldn’t get used to the very luxurious decoration.
She still preferred small, cheap restaurants on the street. The taste wasn’t necessarily worse than high-class places.
Back in the living room, she curled up on the sofa and turned on the TV. She chose an online drama that people said had good reviews recently.
The TV membership was paid by Su Peng, and he said it cost thirty yuan. An Han thought it was too expensive, so she tried to make the most of it. Watching one more VIP episode felt like losing less money.
She had just sat down, and the opening song of the drama wasn’t even finished when she noticed Su Peng sitting beside her.
She glanced at him, he was sitting a little more than ten centimeters away, so she moved closer on her own.
“……”
Su Peng looked down at her without thinking. After she took off her jacket, the light redness on her pale neck was very obvious, and he could faintly see her collarbone. Her fitted white sweater also made her figure look a bit different from usual.
He swallowed without noticing and felt himself getting nervous.
An Han looked at the TV, but from the corner of her eye she watched Su Peng’s expression. She could also clearly feel his gaze on her neck and chest area.
But she didn’t plan to tease him today. She yawned, feeling sleepy, and leaned her body against him.
Su Peng stiffened for a moment and quickly moved away from her.
It wasn’t that he was scared. Just that she was sometimes close, sometimes distant, making him feel stuck and unsure what to do. And he also didn’t want either of them to get uncomfortable.
“Can’t you just hold me while we watch TV?”
An Han immediately leaned back toward him again.
“I can, but… wear something thicker.”
“What’s wrong with you…”
She yawned, got up, put on her jacket, and then directly sat on Su Peng’s lap.
Su Peng leaned back a little and opened his legs slightly.
An Han curled her legs like a lazy cat and sat between his legs, leaning back against his firm, broad chest.
Even with just a light embrace, she felt a strong sense of comfort and safety wrapping around her.
She let out a soft, relaxed sound through her nose. She realized she actually liked being in Su Peng’s arms quite a lot.
It would be nice if she could fall asleep like this.
Breathing in Su Peng’s scent, her heartbeat slowed down, her mind became still, and she no longer acted jumpy like she usually did. She leaned quietly against him, watching the show, and sometimes talked with him about the characters and the story.
“This male lead looks pretty bad… aren’t his eyes a bit uneven?”
“He’s already above average compared to most people. But of course not as handsome as me.”
“You’re way too full of yourself!”
An Han liked watching movies and talking about them with friends, and she liked the comfort of being held even more.
It felt like time was slowing down…
“That was so funny! Did you see the male lead’s expression just now?”
“Isn’t that actor the one from that serious drama… what was it called…”
Most of the time it was her talking, and Su Peng would reply once in a while. “Wu Gang.”
“Right, right! That’s him!”
An Han moved excitedly in Su Peng’s arms. “He always acts so well!”
Her impression of web dramas had always been that they were poorly made, so she was surprised when, on a whim, she watched one that was decent in terms of acting, set design, and storyline.
But about ten minutes later, she suddenly felt something pushing lightly against her from below.
She froze and slowly turned to look at Su Peng’s calm face.
She hadn’t done anything strange… and she definitely didn’t try to tease him.
“…I can’t help it,” Su Peng explained calmly. “I didn’t even dare hug you too close, but it still… happened.”
