Chapter 319: Sunday
Although An Han was already awake, she still stayed under the blanket on top of Su Peng for at least ten more minutes before she carefully let go of him, moved his hand away from her chest, and quietly climbed out of bed.
She had to admit, sleeping while holding Su Peng was really comfortable~
But her right arm, which had been pressed under her, didn’t know where to go. No matter how she tried to place it, it felt awkward.
Her cheeks were still a little red. She stood beside the bed and looked at Su Peng’s sleeping face. Then she suddenly felt something cold on her neck. When she lowered her head, she finally noticed the necklace. She didn’t know when he had put it on her.
“Hmm… having a necklace on feels weird.”
She tugged at it a little, picked up the heart-shaped pendant, and muttered, “It doesn’t look good.”
The shape felt a bit too straightforward.
But inside, she still couldn’t stop feeling happy…
An Han turned the pendant over and over, looking at it again and again. The more she looked, the more she liked it. Her eyes curved into happy crescents.
She had never learned anything about jewelry and hadn’t even seen much before. Everything about the necklace felt new and interesting. It was also the first necklace that truly belonged to her.
Even though she wasn’t used to the feeling of wearing it, she still tucked the necklace inside her clothes. The cold pendant touched her skin, letting her feel it all the time.
“He actually gave me a necklace… I wonder how much it costs. I heard necklaces can be very expensive.”
If it was too expensive, she would tell Su Peng to return it.
Even though Su Peng’s family situation probably meant he didn’t care much about the cost, wearing something valuable made An Han worry she might break it by accident.
Happily humming a tune, she helped cover Su Peng with the blanket and then walked out of the bedroom in a cheerful mood.
But the moment she reached the living room, the smile on her face immediately disappeared.
Originally, she had planned to invite Wang Sheng to her birthday party. With his clean-freak personality, he would definitely not tolerate the messy aftermath and would help clean up.
But since he didn’t come…
The living room floor had stains from the hotpot soup, the hotpot and bowls on the table were in a huge mess, and the trash hadn’t been taken out. Everything was piled everywhere.
If she had known Wang Sheng wouldn’t come, she would have eaten outside instead. Why did she insist on eating at home…
An Han sighed. She hadn’t bathed last night because she was drunk, and she had planned to take a hot shower first.
But she couldn’t ignore the mess today.
“I’ll clean up first, then take a shower…”
“Why was that drink so strong? My head is still dizzy.”
“My alcohol tolerance is supposed to be pretty good.”
She lightly tapped her head, frowning, and went into the bathroom to wash up. But the mirror showed her face: swollen and tired-looking.
“I’m never drinking cocktails again. They don’t even taste like alcohol, and a few glasses completely knocked me out.”
“And it even made Su Peng end up on my bed… Next time I’ll probably really give myself away while drunk.”
She could remember parts of what happened last night, but she had no idea why Su Peng was sleeping with her.
She didn’t think Su Peng was the type to take advantage of someone who was drunk. If he were like that, her clothes wouldn’t still be perfectly in place.
“There’s no way… I invited him myself, right?”
Mumbling and crossing out the least likely explanation, she finished washing up. After splashing her face with cold water, all the tiredness disappeared from her expression.
It was already seven in the morning, but outside was still dim with only a little light.
Although the weather had warmed a bit, An Han’s face still turned red from the cold as soon as she went outside. Her hands hid inside her coat pockets and she couldn’t bring herself to take them out.
She took small quick steps and ran to the breakfast stall at the entrance of the neighborhood, but unexpectedly saw someone she knew.
“Brother Ren?”
“So early?” Ren Chi had just taken the steamed bun the stall owner handed him. He turned around and greeted her, “It’s Sunday. Why aren’t you sleeping in?”
“Brother Ren~ Yesterday was my birthday…” An Han, looking a little shy, leaned closer.
Ren Chi casually stuffed the steamed bun into her hands. “Here, a birthday present.”
“Tsk~ So stingy!”
Actually, An Han had invited Ren Chi to the birthday party. Since they lived in the same neighborhood, it would’ve been easy for him to come.
But Ren Chi had rejected the invitation very firmly. He said that as a counselor, going to a student’s party would make the other students feel uncomfortable and awkward… but she felt that the excuse was too weak. He had probably gone somewhere to look for “excitement.”
“Boss, two hand-grabs, and two bowls of rice-slurry.”
Seeing that An Han ordered everything in pairs, Ren Chi guessed that she must have spent the night with Su Peng.
“By the way, last semester’s scholarship will arrive next week.”
“Where would I get a scholarship…?”
“I meant you should tell Su Peng.”
An Han looked shocked. Su Peng had never mentioned anything about this. “He can get a scholarship?”
“What else? He was top three in the class for all subjects last semester, he never skipped class, did well in the sports meet, and even got second place in a competition.”
“Oh… okay…”
She sighed, full of envy.
Su Peng had spent almost every day last semester hanging around her. She almost never saw him seriously study, and he often skipped class. Yet he could still get high scores and even a scholarship.
Meanwhile, she barely passed two subjects with exactly sixty points. Most likely she failed the exams, and the teachers added some extra points out of kindness.
“Didn’t he skip class sometimes…?”
“He always asked for leave properly.”
Ren Chi didn’t talk with An Han for long. Being with a student who knew about his cross-dressing secret always made him feel stressed. After mentioning the scholarship, he said goodbye and walked back into the neighborhood.
An Han was still full of envy and jealousy as she waited for the stall owner to finish making the hand-grab pancakes.
If she had gotten a scholarship, her parents would have been overjoyed. They would stick the award on the wall and notify all their relatives and friends within half an hour.
“It’s done.”
Taking the packed breakfast, An Han returned home with a lifeless expression.
Su Peng was already awake, sitting on the sofa yawning while cleaning up the hotpot on the table. When he saw her come in, he casually asked, “What time did you get up?”
“About half an hour ago.”
“Mm.”
After placing the breakfast on the cleared part of the table, An Han suddenly frowned and questioned him.
“Why did you end up in my bed last night?!”
“???”
Su Peng looked up with a completely innocent face. “You blacked out from drinking?”
“No, I remember you carried me home.”
“And then?”
“And then I just went to sleep!”
Su Peng nodded with certainty. “Then you definitely blacked out. You said your hands and feet were cold and insisted I warm them. In the end, you dragged me onto the bed.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. You even acted crazy from the alcohol and tried to take off my clothes. Luckily, I resisted the temptation and refused to give in…”
An Han looked at him with suspicion. She felt that if she really got drunk, she might actually do something like that.
“You believed that?”
“You’re talking nonsense!”
An Han’s face instantly turned bright red with embarrassment and anger. She pounced on him like a little wild cat. “How could I possibly do something like that!”
