Chapter 42: Everyday School Life
As they were leaving the pet hospital, Doctor An stopped An Ran'er.
"Xiao Ran, wait a moment. I need to tell you something."
"What is it?"
"Mom and Dad said they're going to visit your apartment next weekend."
"Huh? Why!?"
"And you still have the nerve to ask? You moved out of the school dormitory and started living on your own without telling them. They only found out later."
"But... I..."
"What is it?"
"Uh, nothing, nothing. I understand."
An Ran'er quickly waved her hands and forced a smile.
"Good."
After hearing the news, An Ran'er remained uneasy the entire way home.
If her parents found out that she was living together with a boy, they would definitely scold her to death.
She glanced at Li Nuo, who was carrying Roubao. Although he looked very much like a girl, she still felt worried, so she said to him,
"Can you wear girls' clothes the whole time when you're at home?"
"Huh? Why?"
Li Nuo was completely shocked.
Although she had asked him to wear girls' clothes before, that was only when they were dealing with band-related matters. Normally, when he was at home, he mostly wore regular men's clothes.
Seeing his confused expression, An Ran'er decided not to hide anything.
"My parents are coming to visit next weekend. I... I can't let them find out that I'm living with a boy, so..."
"I see."
After hearing her explanation, Li Nuo felt it made sense.
After all, no parent would easily accept a high school boy and girl living together. But if they thought it was two girls, it would be much easier to accept.
"I understand. I'll make sure to hide the fact that I'm a boy."
For a moment, he had thought An Ran'er wanted him to live as a girl permanently, which had scared him quite a bit. But if it was only for the weekend, then it was manageable, so he agreed without much trouble.
…………………………
Monday morning.
After finishing all the work related to the new album, An Ran'er finally returned to school.
For students who spent their days in a boring study environment, knowing that an idol attended their school was extremely exciting.
Previously, when The Girls had disbanded, An Ran'er had not attracted much attention after transferring in. At the time, she was basically a fallen idol with little popularity.
But things were different now.
Thanks to the new album, The Girls had become popular again, and as the band leader, An Ran'er's popularity naturally rose as well.
As soon as she arrived at school, a crowd gathered around her asking for autographs. Some also wanted to know whether the new lead singer was a student at the school.
The situation annoyed her greatly.
One reason she had avoided coming to school before was because she was afraid of exactly this kind of thing.
As the crowd grew larger and larger, it eventually caught the attention of the school's disciplinary director.
The director of Nanqin High School was a middle-aged man nearing forty, with a bald spot on top of his head. He wore extremely thick glasses because of his poor eyesight, and his large lips gave him a rather funny appearance.
When he saw students completely blocking the school entrance, he grabbed a ruler and rushed over from the teaching building while shouting angrily:
"All students, enter the school in an orderly manner immediately! Do not stay at the gate! Anyone who refuses to follow instructions will receive a disciplinary warning!"
As soon as he spoke, the students who had been asking for autographs quickly scattered and ran off.
Most of them had only come to watch the excitement. They were ordinary students and did not want to get punished.
However, some still muttered insults as they left.
"Kappa."
"Baldy."
"Sausage-lips old man."
And so on.
Watching the students leave while grumbling, the disciplinary director could not help saying, "She's just a little idol. Look at all of you acting like this."
Then he immediately turned toward An Ran'er and spoke in a flattering tone.
"Are you alright, student?"
"Huh? Uh... y-yes, I'm fine."
An Ran'er was startled by the sudden change in attitude.
"Thank you for helping me just now, Director. I'll be going now."
"Wait!"
The director suddenly called out.
"Is there something else?"
"Well... could you... could you give me an autograph too? I... I'm also a fan of The Girls."
"Huh?"
…………………………
Class 3, Grade 10.
After An Ran'er entered the classroom, the students' attention immediately focused on her.
After all, being classmates with an idol was something they could proudly brag about to their friends.
As An Ran'er's desk mate, Li Nuo naturally attracted quite a few looks as well.
Most of them came from the boys in class, filled with envy and jealousy.
Only after the class bell rang did those stares finally lessen.
During class, Li Nuo quietly wrote something in his notebook and passed it to An Ran'er.
[You're really popular.]
An Ran'er, who had been listening carefully to the lesson, saw the notebook and smiled slightly after reading it.
She wrote a reply and passed it back.
[If you put on girls' clothes, you'd definitely be even more popular than me.]
Li Nuo blushed when he read her words.
Then he quickly wrote:
[Impossible. Absolutely impossible!]
After reading it, An Ran'er wrote another reply.
[How do you know it's impossible if you never try? Hehe.]
Li Nuo picked up his pen, ready to argue back.
But a female voice interrupted him.
"Student Li, why don't you explain how to solve this problem?"
Li Nuo looked up.
Sure enough, their homeroom teacher, Xu Yuyi, was standing at the front of the classroom, looking at him with a gentle smile.
He did not even need to think about it.
She had caught him daydreaming in class again.
………………………
Noon, school cafeteria.
Li Nuo and Zhou Qikuan sat across from each other, eating lunch.
Halfway through the meal, Li Nuo suddenly realized that he had not seen Su Wenwen recently.
In the past, she would always appear beside Zhou Qikuan at lunchtime and force him to eat the lunchbox she made.
Thinking about this, he asked curiously,
"By the way, where's your fiancee, Su Wenwen? I haven't seen her lately."
"Her? She transferred schools."
"Transferred?"
"Yeah. Last week. She transferred to a girls' high school."
"A girls' high school? Which one?"
"No idea. I couldn't care less about her affairs. Honestly, things are much more peaceful now that she's gone. Otherwise, she'd be bothering me every single day."
"Hmm... do you really dislike her that much?"
"It's not that I dislike her. I just don't like how clingy she is."
Hearing that, Li Nuo did not continue the topic. Instead, he sighed and said,
"Having too much charm isn't always a good thing."
Zhou Qikuan naturally understood that Li Nuo was making fun of him. He laughed and cursed jokingly, "You brat. Just eat your food and stop talking so much."
