Chapter 76: Love and Not Love
“Put on a coat,” Bai Shuchuan said.
“Okay,” Su Moyu replied.
After she went back to the bedroom and took out a coat, Bai Shuchuan reached out and gently patted her head.
“Don’t be so stubborn next time.”
Su Moyu immediately felt a bit embarrassed.
Yes… tonight she really had been a bit stubborn.
“Okay,” she answered, putting on the coat.
But she still felt a little guilty inside.
“Bai Shuchuan,” she called softly.
He had already opened the door, but he turned back to look at her. Su Moyu walked over, stood on her tiptoes, and kissed him on the lips.
But the kiss didn’t last long. Su Moyu was really a bit tired.
Still, if Bai Shuchuan had to go out alone to buy medicine, she would feel bad about it.
After all, she was not good at dealing with these things. It was something they both did on impulse, so why should he carry all the responsibility alone?
“Let’s go,” Bai Shuchuan said, holding her hand.
Su Moyu secretly looked at his side profile.
Yes, she had been a bit impulsive tonight. But in the end, it was something both of them agreed to. They understood each other, and they were like a couple now, so she didn’t think too much about it…
“Bai Shuchuan,” she called again.
“Yeah, go ahead,” he replied patiently.
Su Moyu looked a little proud, even a bit pleased with herself.
“I’m sometimes a bit stubborn because I feel really safe when I’m with you,” she said, gently swinging their hands together. “So if you think about it, you’re actually the reason I can be like this.”
Bai Shuchuan nodded. “But don’t do anything that hurts yourself.”
Su Moyu gave a soft hum, knowing she was in the wrong.
“I won’t next time,” she said awkwardly. “It’s understandable to be a little emotional sometimes, right?”
Bai Shuchuan sighed softly. “Yeah, because I was also impulsive.”
“Alright, hurry up and call a ride to the pharmacy. I know you care about me,” Su Moyu said with a small laugh.
He was like that, his concern was always hidden in small details.
The street was lively, and a cold wind blew past. Su Moyu shrank her shoulders a little.
“Are you cold?” Bai Shuchuan noticed and looked at her.
“A little,” she admitted.
But before she could say more, he already took off his coat and placed it over her.
They walked past a streetlight. Her hand was held tightly in his, warm and steady.
Su Moyu suddenly felt emotional, her eyes slightly wet.
Maybe in this world, there really wasn’t another person like him, someone who cared for her so much, without any blood relation.
Soft light fell from above Bai Shuchuan’s head. Su Moyu looked down at their shadows and asked quietly,
“Aren’t you cold?”
“I’m fine. Walk faster,” he replied. “You seem weaker than me.”
“Mm,” she answered softly, warmth rising in her heart.
Maybe… this was what marriage meant.
Su Moyu leaned her head on his shoulder.
It wasn’t just about not being alone anymore. It was also the feeling of home, safety, and belonging.
They left the neighborhood and got into a ride-hailing car heading to the pharmacy.
……………………
In the car, Su Moyu kept holding Bai Shuchuan’s hand. He could also feel that she was very tired.
She leaned on his shoulder and looked out the window at the passing scenery.
Maybe… she was already very, very happy now.
Su Moyu thought to herself.
When they arrived at the pharmacy, before she even stepped inside, she already started to feel embarrassed.
Bai Shuchuan bought the medicine. The pharmacist didn’t say anything, just quietly took the money and finished the payment.
After they came out of the pharmacy, Su Moyu suddenly smelled something nice. Across the street from the pharmacy was a shop selling grilled pork knuckles, but she didn’t even feel like walking over anymore.
“Bai Shuchuan,” she said, tugging his hand while he was using a ride app.
“Yeah,” he replied, looking at her.
“I want to eat those grilled pork knuckles,” she said, pointing at the shop across the street.
She even blinked at him.
“Okay,” Bai Shuchuan said. “Wait here. I’ll go buy it.”
“Mm-mm,” Su Moyu nodded quickly and sat down on a stone block nearby. “Hurry!”
Bai Shuchuan crossed the street. Su Moyu watched his back from afar while wrapping her coat tighter around herself.
Her heart felt warm.
If it were the old Bai Shuchuan, he might have made a face at her.
He might even have teased her for being lazy and told her to go buy it herself.
But now things were different. She was his girlfriend now.
Sometimes acting a little spoiled and letting him do things for her felt completely natural.
Thinking about this made Su Moyu secretly happy.
Back when they were just “bros,” she was the one receiving his care as a friend. Now that she had become a girl, she was the one receiving his care as a girlfriend… as a wife.
And now, they had formed a tiny little home, just the two of them.
Su Moyu looked down at the small plastic bag in her hand, and the scene from earlier came back to her mind.
Maybe in the future, the only person who could “compete” with her for his attention would be…
Their child?
She had thought about it before. If she really became a girl, giving birth would involve unimaginable pain.
But Bai Shuchuan was already so good to her…
Even if she really got pregnant, he would probably take care of everything afterward.
A faint smile appeared on her face, but her nose suddenly felt a little sore.
Maybe she didn’t need to keep worrying about whether Bai Shuchuan loved her or not.
She always overthought things.
She always doubted love, feeling insecure and unsure.
Just then, footsteps came closer.
Su Moyu looked up and saw Bai Shuchuan returning. He handed her a plastic bag.
The rich smell of oil and grilled spices filled the air, and Su Moyu immediately started craving it.
“Here. Eat it while it’s hot,” he said.
She took it from him. The warmth of the paper bag reached her hand, and her eyes suddenly turned wet.
Love or not love… wasn’t it already very clear?
Wasn’t this his answer?
Bai Shuchuan lowered his head slightly, then suddenly heard soft sniffles beside him.
He paused and turned to look at her.
Su Moyu was wiping tears from her face.
