Chapter 87: So Reluctant

After they got home, Su Moyu collapsed onto the sofa like a puppet with no bones.

Bai Shuchuan put down the things in his hands, then went into the kitchen to organize everything. He carefully placed the seasoning bottles on the shelf.

When he turned to take something from the plastic bag, he bumped into a soft, fair hand. Su Moyu had reached over and handed it to him.

“Why aren’t you resting properly?” Bai Shuchuan asked as he took it and placed it on the kitchen rack.

“I’ll rest after I finish this,” Su Moyu said softly, then put the bag of shrimp into the sink. “These need to be cooked in boiling water first…”

Bai Shuchuan blinked. “So we just boil water?”

“No,” Su Moyu replied. “You need to boil green onions, ginger, and garlic first, then put the shrimp in. If you just use plain boiling water, it will smell fishy.”

She had secretly checked a tutorial earlier.

“I see,” Bai Shuchuan said, then put the salad dressing into the fridge. Honestly, their fridge was almost empty. There was barely anything fresh inside.

When Su Moyu saw the soda on the shelf, she suddenly felt tempted.

She wanted to drink it.

But the dull pain in her lower stomach made her hesitate.

If the pain suddenly got worse, it would be really uncomfortable.

After thinking about it, she forced herself to give up the idea.

She clumsily took the shrimp out of the sink and followed what she saw in the video, cutting off the heads, then removing the insides and the vein.

A faint fishy smell reached her nose, and she instinctively felt a bit uncomfortable.

After all, she hadn’t handled raw ingredients like this for a long time.

“Do you need help?” Bai Shuchuan asked from behind.

She shook her head, then glanced down at the apron she was wearing. Honestly, she really looked like a gentle housewife right now… well, maybe not the “mother” part.

“If you don’t feel well, you should rest soon,” Bai Shuchuan reminded her.

“Mm-hmm,” Su Moyu responded, and he turned and walked out.

She secretly looked at his back and thought he was really a bit slow.

Was it because her kissing wasn’t good enough, so he didn’t enjoy it?

She thought about it while working. Suddenly, a shrimp jumped in her hand, startling her. She quickly grabbed it and finished preparing it before throwing it onto the plate.

Wait, maybe that wasn’t the right way to think either.

After all, kissing her wasn’t something troublesome. They only really kissed deeply before sleep or when they had free time.

Forget it… maybe she just needed to take the initiative.

She had already tried teasing him before, and had already… paid the price for it.

She straightened her back, feeling a bit sore in her waist. She wasn’t sure if it was because of her period or from being a bit too active earlier.

She let out a soft breath. Maybe after cooking these shrimp, she could make porridge tomorrow morning, and try cooking noodles in the evening.

Bai Shuchuan sat on the sofa watching TV. Honestly, even though TV wasn’t used much, turning it on once in a while gave a nice, relaxed feeling.

Su Moyu came out of the kitchen wearing her apron, holding a plate of shrimp.

“Xiao Bai, Xiao Bai, come eat~” she called out with a cheerful smile.

Bai Shuchuan frowned slightly, but when he saw her smile, his mood improved as well.

Somehow, he even found the way she called him kind of cute.

Bai Shuchuan felt like he had become a bit foolish because of being in love.

Su Moyu lowered her head, peeled a shrimp, dipped it in sauce, and brought it to his mouth.

Bai Shuchuan opened his mouth and ate it, then noticed Su Moyu looking at him with an expectant expression.

“Is it good?”

He nodded and gently patted her head.

“It’s very good,” he said.

Only then did Su Moyu show a satisfied and proud smile.

“Hehe, see? I do have talent,” she said, putting her hands on her waist like a bright little sunflower.

Bai Shuchuan glanced at the plate of shrimp and the small bowl of sauce. He almost said that this kind of cooking was actually quite simple.

But after thinking about it, he felt there was no need to say something that might ruin the mood.

“You’re really good,” he said.

Su Moyu reached behind her to untie her apron.

“Give me a reward,” she said softly.

Bai Shuchuan looked at her and noticed her eyes were fixed on his lips.

He lowered his head and kissed her. Just as Su Moyu placed her hands on his shoulders, he pulled away.

She immediately showed an unhappy expression.

“That was so perfunctory,” she said with a slight pout.

Bai Shuchuan frowned, confused.

“What?”

“I said you were too perfunctory,” she repeated.

“Why?” he blinked. Had he said something wrong?

Su Moyu suddenly became shy.

“Why does it feel like you don’t really want to kiss me?”

There was a hint of complaint in her voice. Saying something so direct made her lose the courage to look at him.

Bai Shuchuan froze for a moment, then smiled helplessly.

“I was thinking about cleaning the kitchen quickly so we could rest sooner.”

Su Moyu’s face turned even redder, but she still pouted stubbornly.

“Then go clean quickly,” she huffed.

Bai Shuchuan wrapped an arm around her waist. She instinctively turned her head away, but he leaned in and kissed her again.

His body pressed closer, holding her firmly in his arms. The warm feeling made her whole back tingle.

After a while, he finally let her go. Su Moyu felt dizzy, breathing a bit heavily, her eyes unfocused as she looked at him.

Because she was so close to him, she could clearly feel… a certain change in his body.

Only then did she realize that when he held back earlier, it was just him trying to control himself.

She had almost forgotten that guys could react like that.

“Idiot,” she muttered softly.

Bai Shuchuan felt helpless.

Even like this, she still had to complain about him.

“Are you satisfied now, Susu?” he asked gently.

Only then did he let her go.

“It’s okay… pretty good,” she said, still acting a bit proud.

But honestly, she really couldn’t handle it when he called her “Susu.” It sounded like a soft, intimate nickname.

She always ended up imagining too much.
