Volume 4 Chapter 24: Stay Away from Him
Lin Lin froze for a moment.
The unexpected visitor in front of her, wearing sunglasses and a mask, took off her baseball cap and stood quietly in front of Lin Lin. She seemed to be checking her face… or maybe judging her.
Yi… Yi Xiao?!
The moment Lin Lin saw the silver long hair, she almost immediately guessed who this unexpected visitor was. Her heart skipped a beat, and she started to panic.
Why… why did she come here?!
This is bad…
Lin Lin held her breath and swallowed nervously. She had just said that nothing would happen when she was alone. But now, she had only been away from Gao Liang and her home for about an hour, and someone had already found her.
Seeing the fear in Lin Lin’s eyes, the visitor looked a little disdainful. When she noticed that Lin Lin was about to call out her name in surprise, she quickly raised her hand and made a “shh” gesture.
“Don’t shout. If you draw attention, I’ll have a lot of trouble… and you’ll have even more.”
A big star was still a big star. Even when she was trying not to attract attention, her attitude made Lin Lin feel pressured. Lin Lin nodded stiffly, feeling awkward and not knowing what to say.
In the end… what was this woman’s purpose?
Kidnapping her in public? Impossible. She had just said she didn’t want attention. And this was a public place.
Besides, Sister Wenmei was right next to her.
Nothing would happen… right?
It should be fine.
“Why… why are you here?”
Seeing this tense and awkward scene, Du Wenmei took a deep breath and looked at them in confusion.
“Xiao Lin, do you know this person? Is she your friend?”
“N–No,” Lin Lin turned her head and explained awkwardly. “This person is…”
How should she explain it…
“Aren’t you going to talk with me first? That’s why I came.”
Yi Xiao pushed her sunglasses up slightly and spoke in a proud tone.
Du Wenmei frowned but didn’t say anything. Lin Lin looked around, then awkwardly moved aside and sat next to Sister Wenmei.
Yi Xiao put down her handbag and sat directly across from Lin Lin. She took off her mask and looked around. Seeing that no one was paying attention, she also removed her sunglasses. Still, she picked up a magazine and held it up slightly to cover part of her face.
After all this, Du Wenmei could finally see Yi Xiao’s face clearly. She was shocked and quickly turned to Lin Lin in disbelief.
“Xiao Lin, isn’t this person…?”
“Yes, it’s that celebrity. She… well, how should I say this… She is the childhood friend of a boy who’s… well, quite close to me. The boy you saw at the art museum last time.”
“I see.” Du Wenmei nodded, feeling like she understood the situation.
Wow…
She never expected that the first time she saw a real idol in person, someone from the career she admired, would be in such a strange situation.
She remembered Yi Xiao. She had appeared on a talent show before. Her ability wasn’t especially strong… otherwise, Du Wenmei would have liked her more and remembered her better.
But Du Wenmei had always felt nothing special about her. Just an ordinary celebrity in her eyes, even though her promotion was very strong.
“Miss Lin Lin! I believe I’m talking to you right now?”
Seeing the two girls whispering to each other in front of her, Yi Xiao became a little angry and reminded them in an unfriendly tone.
Lin Lin quickly turned back, still feeling nervous.
“Um… can I ask you a question first? Sorry, I just want to know… why did you come to see me on purpose?”
And she even knew, and remembered, her name.
It was clear she didn’t come with good intentions.
“It’s nothing. That night, when I saw you with A-Liang, I realized there were some things I had to make clear to you. That’s why I came. Unfortunately, Miss Lin Lin, you seem to have been avoiding me.”
“Th-That’s not true. I didn’t do anything wrong. Why would I avoid you?”
Hearing the proud tone in Yi Xiao’s voice made Lin Lin a little angry too. But she couldn’t show it directly since Yi Xiao hadn’t clearly said her purpose yet.
“That’s good.” Yi Xiao gave a cold smile and then asked first, “Then may I ask, Miss Lin Lin, what exactly is your relationship with our A-Liang?”
How shameless…
Lin Lin’s mouth twitched.
“Our A-Liang”?
“Friends… no, good friends~”
Lin Lin was getting angry too, so she answered in a slightly challenging tone.
Yi Xiao froze for a moment. She clearly didn’t expect Lin Lin to talk back to her, especially after knowing her identity.
“Good friends who hug each other?”
“Ah, that…”
When Yi Xiao mentioned that night, Lin Lin felt embarrassed. But Yi Xiao had no patience to listen to any explanation. She lightly tapped the table and said impatiently,
“I don’t care what kind of relationship you two have. Whether it’s just flirting or already official, I hope that from today on, you stay away from A-Liang. That will be good for you, for me, and for him.”
“As for conditions, you can ask for anything. Money, connections in the entertainment industry, anything I can do, I’ll try my best to help you. Just treat me as… a magic lamp that grants wishes. As long as you promise to stay away from A-Liang, I guarantee you’ll get enough benefits in return.”
“W-What?”
Lin Lin’s mouth twitched again. She felt this was even more unrealistic than her own wild dreams.
What was this? Like in a drama where a rich mother throws a pile of money at her son’s girlfriend and tells her to leave?
Well… that comparison wasn’t perfect. After all, this woman clearly wasn’t old enough to be anyone’s mother.
“Um, may I ask you something, Miss Celebrity? What exactly is your relationship with Gao Liang right now?”
“Right now…”
Yi Xiao suddenly looked uncomfortable, as if her weak point had been touched. She hesitated before speaking:
“You should know, right? I already told you. I’m A-Liang’s childhood friend! The girl most favored by the Gao family, the best match for him. We’re perfect for each other. Hmph. Anyway, sooner or later, we’ll be together. As for… other people, they’re just troublemakers who have already been pushed out. There’s no need for them to stay in A-Liang’s life.”
“Huh? But Gao Liang told me he’s not close to you.”
Lin Lin rested her chin on her hand, her face turning cold as she suddenly attacked with that sentence.
“What… what?!”
Yi Xiao froze.
Not… close?
