Chapter 344: Compensation
After getting the counselor’s approval, Su Peng immediately started looking online for an internship that suited him.
Work is much easier than before now. There are many job openings on different apps, but there are also many scammers and agents trying to trick people, so he needed to be careful.
“An Han, what do you think about this one?”
During class, Su Peng kept his eyes on his phone, searching through a large number of job posts while asking for An Han’s opinion.
An Han glanced at it and muttered, “This is a programmer job?”
“Our major is basically programming, isn’t it?”
“If you want to try it, then go for it.”
She actually had no interest in programming at all. Back then, her mother told her to choose this major, and she had been confused and clueless, so she just followed what her mother wanted.
She had no plans to become a programmer, but honestly, she didn’t know what she wanted to do, either. After becoming female, her whole life had fallen apart. It took her half a year just to accept her gender and solve different problems. She had no energy to think about her future.
“Then I’ll send my resumé…”
An Han moved her gaze from the blackboard to Su Peng’s face. Resting her chin on both hands, she stared at his lively and energetic expression.
“I don’t know how interviews work. Do I need to buy a suit? Prepare some lines to say?”
“You probably don’t need to, right?” She asked, not fully sure, “If you go for an internship and fail your final exams, what will you do?”
“I won’t. Even if I fail, I can retake the exam in the fourth year.”
The only problem was that now the school no longer had special retake exams. Otherwise Su Peng would be even more confident.
“Someone replied to me!” Su Peng suddenly tried to hide his excitement, he had just received his first message.
He talked with the recruiter for about ten minutes and confirmed the interview time. “Tomorrow at nine in the morning. Looks like this is a sure thing.”
“That’s great~”
An Han mumbled. She imagined that if she had to find an internship herself, she would definitely be nervous and scared, her heart full of worry. She would never be as confident as Su Peng.
“So you’re skipping class tomorrow morning?”
“Yeah. It takes two hours by bus to get to that company.”
When he mentioned this, the excitement on Su Peng’s face disappeared. Holding his head, he complained, “If I get the job, I’ll need four hours every day just to travel back and forth.”
“You’re already thinking about getting the job before even interviewing?”
“I just want to gain experience first,” Su Peng said with a grin. “Even if this company wants me, I still want to interview with a few more and choose one.”
“If it really doesn’t work out, I’ll wait for the spring recruitment. That’s just a few weeks away.”
Right when he finished speaking, Su Peng suddenly changed the topic and asked in a pitiful tone, “About that compensation we talked about before…”
These days, he had added his future father-in-law on WeChat, but every time they chatted, they couldn’t even talk for two minutes before the other side started scolding him. He suspected that after being blamed for something he didn’t do, his future father-in-law liked him even less.
An Han looked guilty. “Um… let’s wait a little longer? I’ll think about what to give you as compensation.”
“That one is fine. The one from before.”
Absolutely not! Using her mouth was way too awkward!
Su Peng glanced at the time, then looked up at the teacher, who was talking with her head down.
“I’m going to deliver food now.”
“Okay, be careful.”
Su Peng bent down and carefully slipped out of his chair. He crouched low and rushed out through the back door before the teacher on the podium even noticed.
When An Han turned her head toward the hallway window, she saw Su Peng already outside waving goodbye to her.
This guy was becoming more and more used to the job. In the first few days of delivering food, he always complained nonstop, and he even slipped and got hurt once because of the rain. But now he had become much more skilled. He often came home looking relaxed and happy after delivering orders.
Maybe he was treating it like exercise at this point.
Sitting in the last row of the classroom, and with Su Peng gone, she had no one to talk to, so she could only lift her head and try to listen to the teacher.
But this class was way too boring…
The course wasn’t important either. People said the final exam would be open-book. Because of that, less than half the class even showed up. Students were scattered around the room, and 90% of them were looking down at their phones, playing games, watching videos, or pretending to listen. Almost no one was actually paying attention.
The teacher didn’t care at all. As if just completing a task, he didn’t even bother to lift his head. He stared at the slides and read the text word for word.
After almost thirty minutes of struggle, just when An Han was about to fall asleep, the bell rang, instantly waking her up.
Yawning and stretching, she packed her books and left the classroom.
She didn’t eat at the cafeteria. Holding her books, she jogged back to the rented place. She needed to seriously think about what kind of “compensation” she should give Su Peng.
Too intimate would be bad, it would make Su Peng’s feelings for her grow too fast. Too casual wouldn’t work either. And if she pretended nothing happened and tried to just brush it away, Su Peng would probably bring up “the compensation” from time to time, which would be annoying.
Back home, she flopped onto the sofa, her head full of different ideas for compensation.
“Cook something tasty for him?”
“Give him a small gift?”
“I definitely can’t really use my mouth, right? If Su Peng suddenly loses control, it would be way too easy to take advantage of me…”
She quickly pushed those unhealthy images out of her mind.
Letting out a long sigh, she rubbed her hair hard in frustration, messing it up like a ghost.
Feeling tired, she took out her phone and started searching for ideas online.
[Option 1: Meet all of Su Peng’s requests. Reward: A job offer at a tobacco factory.]
[Option 2: Give him a system item. Reward: Su Peng gets a random item.]
[Option 3: Wear something sexy and give him a sweet kiss. Reward: Random attribute points.]
Great. Now she didn’t need to struggle, just pick one of the three.
An Han’s face twitched. The thing she least wanted to see had arrived.
She quickly looked over the three tasks, frowning as she analyzed the pros and cons.
Her eyes were immediately drawn to the reward for the first task. A job at a tobacco factory… If government jobs were iron rice bowls, this was a golden rice bowl. High pay, stable work, great benefits. For a normal college student, this job was almost perfect.
But compared to those rewards that used to give her millions for free, this reward wasn’t that impressive. And the requirement of “meeting all of Su Peng’s requests” basically meant giving herself away for nothing.
If she didn’t consider difficulty, she would of course prefer Option 2. She wouldn’t need to do anything, just hand over an item. And the reward matched the description.
But knowing how unreliable the system’s items usually were… it probably wouldn’t be anything good.
“But Option 3 seems kind of easy too? But wow, it’s so embarrassing…”
“And there’s also a chance it will change my body stats.”
She already had a C-cup, which both she and Su Peng were satisfied with. Any bigger and they might start to sag.
Frowning tightly, she felt her indecisiveness growing worse.
Option 1 basically gives herself away for nothing.
Option 2 is too random.
Option 3 has too many concerns.
What should she choose…?
