Chapter 369: Cheer up!
When they got home, An Han’s face was still red in a cute way.
She avoided Su Peng’s eyes with guilt, unlocked the door with her fingerprint, then kicked off her white shoes and ran quickly toward the bedroom in her stockings.
There was always a hint of a smile in Su Peng’s eyes. His gaze sometimes slid over An Han’s dress, and he more or less understood what his girlfriend was feeling.
After living with An Han since the start of the school year, he already knew her personality well. She was always carefree when playing around, but when it came to anything between men and women, she turned shy. Even if she acted first, she would hide behind a playful attitude.
“Ah!!!”
He suddenly heard a sharp scream. He rushed toward the room, but could only watch helplessly as she fell forward and hit the floor with a loud smack.
The strong pain made her mind go blank. An Han lay flat on the floor, stunned for a moment. After one second of silence, she sucked in a sharp breath and let out a long “hiss”, then tears started flowing down her face like a waterfall.
It hurt so much!
Su Peng didn’t even take off his shoes, he ran to her at once. “Are you okay?”
“Do I look okay to you?”
An Han cried messily, the pain making her tear glands go out of control. Her face was covered in tears as she sobbed, “It hurts, it hurts so much!”
“Did you hurt anything?”
“Why did you run so fast?”
“It’s okay, try to get up first…”
But An Han pressed her forehead against the floor, lying completely flat as she continued to cry. The painful impact still hadn’t faded, leaving her unable to move.
The stockings were slippery, and the floor was tile. She ran too fast, so she slipped, and her head was ringing from the fall.
“Should we go to the hospital?”
Seeing that she still didn’t get up, Su Peng squatted beside her to check the injury.
It didn’t look too serious, mostly bruises and swelling, and some scraped skin.
That made Su Peng feel a bit relieved, but An Han was always scared of pain, and this fall hurt her so much she acted like half her life was gone.
“Alright, try to get up and see if anything else is hurt.”
“Uu~”
An Han slowly managed to control her tears, though she still hiccuped now and then as she sniffled. She held back the pain, wiped her face with her arm first so Su Peng wouldn’t see her looking so messy and ugly.
Crying like this was too embarrassing…
Before she became a girl, she would go years without crying even once. But now she cried so easily because of pain. Sometimes she would even cry for two minutes when she accidentally hit the corner of a table.
So stupid…
Grumbling in her heart and blaming everything on the system, An Han finally let Su Peng help her up and slowly sit her down on the sofa.
She curled up her legs and squatted in the corner of the sofa, not saying a word, biting her lower lip. Tears were still falling one by one. With tear marks on her cheeks and swollen red eyes, she looked extremely pitiful.
Su Peng felt heartbroken as he checked her injuries carefully.
“No broken bones, right? Your elbow is scraped. I’ll get some medicine…”
“It just hurts…”
An Han muttered in a small, wronged voice. She clenched a tissue in her hand, wiping her tears from time to time, like a little injured cat licking its wounds.
“You need to be more careful. You’re scared of pain but always running around. You cry twice a week, either bumping into a table or hitting a door handle.”
“I do not!”
Even when she glared with teary eyes, it had no effect. It only made Su Peng feel she looked even more pitiful.
“I’ll get the medicine.”
An Han lowered her eyes. As time passed, the pain eased little by little. The constant ache became something she could endure, and her mind finally had space to think about random things.
They say that giving something for free hurts more…
She shivered.
They say giving birth is the highest level of pain a human can feel…
She trembled again and curled up even smaller. Luckily, she didn’t have painful periods, or else she would lose all ability to move for almost a week every month.
“What are you thinking about?”
“I suddenly don’t want to be a woman anymore…”
Su Peng sat down next to An Han with the medicine. He lowered his head, dipped a cotton swab into the liquid, and carefully applied it to her elbow.
When the cotton swab touched the scraped skin, An Han instinctively pulled back, but he firmly held her wrist.
“It hurts!”
“Just bear with it.”
“You don’t need to put medicine! It’ll heal by itself in a few days!”
“What if it leaves a scar?”
An Han kept trying to move backward with all her strength. Even though she knew the medicine was good for her, the pain felt even worse when the liquid touched her skin.
But this time, Su Peng didn’t feel sorry for her at all. His big hand held her wrist tightly.
“Don’t move.”
“It’s not that… oh—wait, is my phone ringing?”
An Han froze. She heard the ringtone from her jacket pocket. While she lowered her head to take out her phone, Su Peng used the chance to finish applying medicine to one arm.
“It’s a video call from my mom.”
She glanced at Su Peng. “Move aside a little. Don’t let her see you.”
“Alright. Then stretch out your leg, I’ll put medicine on your knee next.”
“How about… we skip that?”
An Han immediately scooted to the very corner of the sofa, but her ankle was already grabbed. With a strong pull, and a push on her shoulder, she fell backward onto the sofa without control.
“Are you crazy?! Pervert! You scared me!”
She complained while leaning against the sofa armrest. Half-lying down, she answered the video call from her mother.
“Why did you take so long?” her mother said as her face appeared on the screen. “Class is over, right?”
“I just got back to the rental place.”
Before An Han could say anything else, she saw her mother’s expression suddenly darken. Her eyebrows tightened.
An Han paused, then quickly looked at the corner of the screen. Her own eyes were still red, her face full of tear marks. Anyone could tell she had been crying badly just now.
“Uh…” She was about to explain, but suddenly shivered. She lifted her foot and kicked.
Medicine is fine, but why are you pulling at my stockings!?
Su Peng sat on the other side of the sofa, looking innocent.
How am I supposed to apply medicine while you’re still wearing stockings?
“Mom, I just fell down,” An Han said, giving Su Peng a warning glare. Then she raised her arm with the medicine on it toward the camera. “I was just putting medicine on it.”
“Why are you so careless?” her mother asked with concern. “How bad is it? Be more careful next time.”
“I know… the floor was just too slippery.”
“Is it serious?”
“Not really. At least nothing is broken or dislocated. Just some scraped skin.”
An Han pulled her legs in so Su Peng couldn’t keep touching her, and tried her best not to look pitiful anymore.
“What time is your ticket tomorrow? Can Su Peng come with you?” Her mother’s expression softened. “Why don’t I see Su Peng there?”
“Mm, it’s a morning ticket. Of course he’ll come with me~ He’s busy right now, I’ll call him over later.”
“You really have been living together for a long time, right?”
“…….”
An Han froze for a second, then quickly changed the topic.
“Mom, what do you want me to bring for you? I’ll ask Su Peng to buy something.”
“Sister! Bring me a baby to play with!”
“……”
“Aaah! Mom, it’s just a joke!”
