Chapter 12: For His Own Good
After waiting for quite a while, Chen Hui finally came back.
"Sorry about that. Two students from your school came to find me and kept talking to me forever. It was so annoying! Especially that girl. She even tried to guilt-trip me. I argued back, and then she started acting pitiful. What a joke!"
Tian Siyi raised an eyebrow at Chen Chen.
"See? Your sister is much better at judging people."
"Oh? You know them?" Chen Hui asked.
"Your little brother knows them even better."
Chen Chen sighed. Chen Hui had never known that he had once chased after Zhou Jiajia. At that time, nothing had come of it, so there was no reason to tell anyone.
Now that Chen Hui had already met Zhou Jiajia, there was no point hiding it anymore.
"I chased that girl when I was a freshman."
Chen Hui looked surprised. She had always thought her younger brother was not interested in girls. She never expected him to have a story like this.
Since he said he chased her, it meant he never succeeded. No wonder she had never heard about it.
"So she didn't like Xiao Chen?"
"Your brother worked several part-time jobs at school and pretended to be poor. If I were her, I probably wouldn't have liked him either."
Chen Hui could not help laughing.
"This is the first time I've heard someone admit to being materialistic so confidently."
"There's nothing wrong with liking money."
"You're not wrong. But if that's the case, why do you seem to dislike her so much? Aren't you the same?"
"We're completely different! She would never admit that she's materialistic. Unlike me, I'm honest about it. And she kept your brother hanging, happily spent his money, and after six months she didn't even let him hold her hand."
"She really did that?" Chen Hui frowned. She looked at her younger brother with disappointment and lightly smacked him on the head twice.
"You actually let someone like that fool you for so long. No wonder you haven't gotten a girlfriend in the past two years."
Chen Chen quietly admitted, "I know I was wrong. Didn't I already cut off contact with her?"
"You stopped contacting her, but I don't think you've completely moved on. Otherwise, why haven't you dated a single girl in two years?"
Tian Siyi knew that once Chen Hui started lecturing her brother, she would not stop anytime soon, so she quickly interrupted.
"Alright, that happened over a year ago. The only reason he hasn't dated anyone is because he hasn't met the right person yet. There's no need to worry so much. Besides, you don't have a boyfriend either."
"How am I the same as him? You both know how many people chase after me. But look at him... there's not even one girl around him."
Tian Siyi pointed at herself. "There is now."
Hearing that, Chen Hui smiled teasingly. "Then why don't you solve his dating problem too?"
Tian Siyi spread her hands. "I don't mind. But I don't think someone here would agree."
As expected, Chen Chen answered seriously, "I'm her manager."
Chen Hui sighed.
Her younger brother was just too serious. Anyone could tell that she and Tian Siyi were joking, yet he answered as if they were having a serious discussion.
He even treated the unwritten rule that "managers and artists shouldn't date" as if it were an official law.
"Forget it, forget it. Let's stop talking about this and go change into our swimsuits. It's time for the hot springs."
Everyone had to wear swimsuits in the hot spring area.
Tian Siyi did not have one, but the resort sold them. She picked a modest one-piece swimsuit with cute ruffles hanging naturally around the edges.
As soon as she entered the changing room, she noticed the intense stare behind her.
Tian Siyi quickly turned around and looked at Chen Hui with a cautious expression.
"Stop staring at me. That's kind of creepy."
"Relax. I like men. I'm just helping you get used to being naked in front of other girls."
That was what Chen Hui said, but Tian Siyi still felt uncomfortable under her gaze.
She gathered her courage and took off her dress. As soon as she did, Chen Hui stopped staring at her.
It seemed Chen Hui really meant what she said. She was only trying to help Tian Siyi get used to living as a girl as soon as possible.
Tian Siyi turned her head and saw that Chen Hui had also started changing clothes. She quickly looked away again.
Chen Hui noticed and immediately placed a hand on Tian Siyi's head, gently turning her around.
"You're getting shy now? You're a girl too. Why are you so afraid of me?"
"......"
Tian Siyi looked at Chen Hui's still attractive face, then glanced at her fair skin. She swallowed nervously and nodded hard.
Chen Hui knew it was normal for Tian Siyi to have trouble accepting everything at first. In fact, Tian Siyi was already adjusting much faster than most people would.
Chen Hui let go of her and smiled.
"Actually, being a little shy isn't a bad thing. Innocent girls can be more attractive. For example, that Zhou Jiajia seems to have quite a few people who like her."
"She's only pretending to be innocent!" Tian Siyi said with a look of disgust.
"So you're saying you're genuinely innocent?"
Tian Siyi smiled brightly.
"Of course. I'm a real, pure-hearted girl."
"Really..."
Chen Hui poked Tian Siyi's smooth back, making her jump.
"Hey! What was that for?"
"Your skin is so smooth. I'm jealous."
"Hehe, that's what natural beauty looks like!"
"How about I take you for cupping therapy tomorrow?"
"No! You're just jealous because my skin is better than yours."
"Do you really have to be so direct?" Chen Hui really was thinking that, but hearing Tian Siyi say it out loud was still a little embarrassing.
Tian Siyi laughed.
But after all that teasing, she suddenly needed to use the bathroom.
She ignored Chen Hui and hurried to finish changing, thinking only about getting to the restroom as quickly as possible.
After that, Tian Siyi did not speak to Chen Hui at all, making Chen Hui a little worried.
Is she still angry? Chen Hui knew Tian Siyi fairly well. She did not seem like someone who would stay upset over something so small.
Only after they were completely changed did Tian Siyi suddenly run out, leaving behind one sentence.
"I'm going to the bathroom."
Only then did Chen Hui realize that Tian Siyi had almost scared herself into peeing. The thought made Chen Hui want to laugh.
After using the restroom, Tian Siyi came out rubbing her stomach, looking completely refreshed.
But as soon as she reached the door, she saw that annoying woman again.
Her good mood disappeared at once.
She ignored Zhou Jiajia, but Zhou Jiajia walked over on her own.
"As someone's girlfriend, you should think more about him."
"What did I do?"
"You know Chen Chen works several part-time jobs, right? Is it really something a good girlfriend should do, making him spend so much money just to save your pride?"
"So that's why you didn't want to date him?"
"I didn't get together with him for his own good. You know his grades weren't very good, right? How could he focus on studying if he spent all his time dating?"
"What about you? Are your grades that good?"
"I'm different from him. I never put all my attention into dating."
Tian Siyi curled her lips.
This green tea really can make up excuses.
"I didn't know you cared about him that much."
"Of course I do. He liked me before, so naturally I want him to have a good life."
Tian Siyi just smiled.
If it was really for his own good, then why was she trying to convince his current girlfriend to break up with him?
"Then why didn't you just tell him that back then? Why did you keep accepting his breakfasts and milk tea for an entire semester?"
Zhou Jiajia looked at Tian Siyi with her watery, innocent-looking eyes.
"Little sister, you don't really think I was taking advantage of him on purpose, do you?"
