Chapter 19: There's Something I Want to Talk About
Even though Chen Chen had said his dorm wasn't much different from theirs, there were actually some big differences.
The biggest one was that every room had its own private bathroom. There was no need to squeeze into a shared washroom with everyone else.
"And you call this 'about the same'?"
"What's the difference?" Chen Chen didn't understand what she meant.
"A private bathroom! Do you remember when we had military training? We had to line up every morning just to wash up. Girls usually take even longer..."
"Then why don't you come here to wash up from now on?"
Tian Siyi nodded without any hesitation.
"At least you still have a conscience."
The staff dorm wasn't far from the student dorms. By the time she walked here, there probably still wouldn't be a line back at the student bathroom.
Chen Chen laughed.
"Listen to you... Since when have I ever been heartless? Go wash your face. I'll turn on the air conditioner first."
After knowing Chen Chen for seven years, Tian Siyi had never been polite with him. She didn't even mind using his towel.
After wiping away the sticky sweat in the bathroom, she walked out and lay directly on his bed.
By then, the room had cooled down.
The bamboo mat felt pleasantly cool, and Tian Siyi let out a satisfied smile.
Chen Chen looked at her. "Why were you in there so long? Don't tell me you took a shower."
"I didn't, but I wiped my whole body down. I sweated so much. Feeling all sticky was really uncomfortable."
Chen Chen nodded. "Then are you coming here again tomorrow?"
The next few days would probably be even hotter, and judging by Tian Siyi's personality, she would most likely come every day.
"Of course! I'll bring all my toiletries over later."
Chen Chen nodded without saying anything.
After all, he had told her to bring two towels in the first place.
Tian Siyi tugged at her pants. "I've realized that I really like wearing skirts now."
"Oh? Because you get to show off your beautiful legs?"
Just as Tian Siyi had gradually become more disciplined because of Chen Chen's influence, Chen Chen had also started making bold jokes because of her.
"What are you talking about?"
Tian Siyi rolled her eyes before explaining.
"When I sweat, these pants stick to my legs. It's so uncomfortable, especially with this fabric that doesn't breathe."
"Haven't you already been through military training once? Aren't you used to it by now?"
"It's easy to get used to better things, but hard to go back to worse ones. Wearing a skirt is so comfortable. It has great airflow! Why don't you try one too?"
"I'm not interested in wearing women's clothes."
Chen Chen sat down at the head of the bed and gently straightened her messy hair.
She rested her face on the pillow and adjusted herself into a position that made it easier for him to fix her hair, letting him do as he pleased.
After a moment, Chen Chen suddenly asked, "I saw a guy bothering you earlier."
Tian Siyi smiled proudly. "It's fine. I already handled it."
"Really? I was wondering if you needed my help."
"You? What could you have done?"
"I could've told him we're dating, so he'd give up."
Tian Siyi rolled her eyes.
"Oh, please. If that ruined your chances of getting a girlfriend, your sister would probably bury me alive."
Chen Chen laughed. "What kind of monster do you think my sister is?"
"I never said she was."
Tian Siyi grinned.
"I just know she cares a lot about that kind of thing. By the way, are you really not planning to use this chance to date one of the younger girls?"
She turned her head and looked at Chen Chen with a mischievous smile.
Chen Hui wasn't interested in dating herself, but she had always cared about her younger brother's future. Sometimes, Tian Siyi even got dragged into the topic.
Now that Chen Chen seemed to be quite popular, Tian Siyi thought this was the perfect chance for him to find a younger girlfriend.
Here, no one would look down on his grades, and no one would care that he worked part-time.
What the younger girls saw was simply a handsome senior who volunteered, was friendly, and worked hard.
Chen Chen shook his head. "I haven't met the right person."
Ever since Zhou Jiajia had broken his heart, Chen Chen had stopped putting much effort into relationships. He simply let things happen naturally.
Tian Siyi understood how he felt.
After all, in a relationship, the one who gives more is usually the one who gets hurt.
Still, if he never took the initiative and only waited for girls to come to him, that was a bit unrealistic.
"If you don't take the initiative to get to know people, how will you know whether they're the right person?"
"Then it just means we weren't meant to be."
Seeing that he wouldn't change his mind, she gave up.
Whether Chen Chen dated or not wasn't really her business anyway.
"If you're not interested, then forget it. Let your sister be the one who worries."
"And you have the nerve to say that? That guy was trying so hard to get close to you, and I don't think it ended very well for him."
"How am I the same as you?"
Tian Siyi sat up cross-legged and proudly pointed at herself.
"I'm a beautiful girl now! If I easily said yes to every guy, I'd just be letting them take advantage of me. No way!"
"What if other girls think the same way?"
She rolled her eyes.
Chen Chen was actually using her own answer against her. He's getting more and more annoying.
"Where did you learn all this? You were much more innocent when you were chasing Zhou Jiajia."
"Guys have to grow up someday."
"That's nonsense! Guys stay boys at heart forever!"
"What about women?"
"Women?"
Tian Siyi thought for a moment, then deliberately spoke in a sweet, childish voice.
"Women are forever eighteen—"
Chen Chen shivered dramatically. "That was so cheesy."
"Hehe. I'm done messing with you. I should head back, or my roommate will start asking questions again."
Once she got back, Zhao Xiaoqi would almost certainly ask where she had gone.
How should she explain it?
Just thinking about it gave her a headache.
"Alright. If you ever need help, just come find me."
"Don't worry. I won't be polite with you."
"I'm leaving now."
After waving goodbye, Tian Siyi headed out first.
Since she had stayed here for a while, it was almost dinner time. She planned to eat first before going back to the dorm.
However, she hadn't walked far from the staff dormitory when several girls suddenly blocked her path.
By the time she realized what was happening, every way out had already been blocked.
The girl leading the group looked down at her and asked in a cold voice, "Got a minute? We want to talk."
Tian Siyi looked around.
There were six girls in total.
What's this supposed to be? School bullying?
If so, they had picked the wrong person.
A smile appeared on her face again.
"Can I say I'm busy?"
"What do you think?"
"It's broad daylight. You're not actually planning to beat someone up, are you?"
"So what if we are? Hardly anyone comes here, and there aren't any security cameras. We can do whatever we want."
Tian Siyi looked around again.
It really was a quiet place.
Still, the staff dormitory wasn't far away. If she shouted, someone would probably hear her.
These girls were pretty bold to stop her here.
But she didn't do that.
They were just a few girls.
She wasn't nervous at all.
"Alright then. Let's talk."
Wang Xiaoxiang frowned as she looked at the girl in front of her.
She couldn't understand it.
They had come looking for trouble, and six of them had surrounded her.
So why didn't this girl look scared at all?
Instead, she seemed completely calm and in control.
That expression confused Wang Xiaoxiang.
At the same time, it also made her angry. It felt as if she was being looked down on.
