Chapter 23: The Angel of the Medical Room
"Yes. I've already signed with Huichen Entertainment."
"Huichen Entertainment? That's a big company. Being signed this early means you must be really talented."
Tian Siyi scratched her head shyly. "I'm not that talented."
"How about singing a song for me?"
"You really want me to sing?"
"Go ahead. There's no one else here."
Without any hesitation, Tian Siyi began singing. By the time the song ended, Qin Siyu finally remembered to clap.
As she applauded, she praised her sincerely.
"That was really beautiful! I don't know much about music, but it sounds just as good as the pop songs I usually listen to. And you weren't even singing with any background music."
Tian Siyi turned her face slightly away.
"Sister Qin, you're making me embarrassed..."
"What are you two doing?"
A sudden noise from outside caught both of their attention.
They looked at each other and were about to go check when the door to the medical room was pushed open by Chen Chen.
"I brought your lunch."
As soon as he came in, he placed two lunch boxes on the table.
The medical room followed the same schedule as the military training. However, because there were so many students, Qin Siyu usually ate a little later.
Today, because Tian Siyi was there, many more people had been coming to the medical room. By lunchtime, it was so crowded that they gave up going to the cafeteria and asked Chen Chen to bring their meals instead.
Tian Siyi looked toward the door and seemed to catch sight of two people quickly running away.
She turned to Chen Chen.
"What happened outside?"
"I don't know. Two people were acting suspiciously. It looked like they were secretly taking pictures."
He looked around and noticed that the curtains were closed.
His expression changed.
"Wait... you two weren't changing clothes just now, were you?"
If that had been the case, those two people would have to be caught immediately, or there would be serious trouble.
Tian Siyi shook her head with a smile.
"No. If that had happened, I'd be the first one to chase them down."
Chen Chen looked at her injured foot and snorted.
"Give me a break. You're still limping. You think you're going to chase anyone? You'd probably fall flat on your face after just a few steps."
"Watch your mouth! You're the one who'd fall flat on your face!" Tian Siyi lifted her foot to kick him, but she couldn't reach.
Qin Siyu had just opened her lunch box when she heard the two of them talking about "eating poop." She quickly stopped them.
"Hey, enough already. I'm trying to eat."
Chen Chen nodded and continued asking,
"So what exactly happened?"
After taking a bite of her lunch, Qin Siyu sighed.
"Isn't it obvious? This girl is just too charming. Ever since the first person came this morning, people have been sneaking over to look at her. That's why we had to close the curtains."
Chen Chen looked surprised.
"Is it really that bad?"
Tian Siyi proudly lifted her chin.
"Now you know how charming I am, right?"
Ever since becoming a girl, Tian Siyi had been very confident in her appearance. Even though today's situation had gone beyond what she expected, that didn't stop her from showing off a little.
Qin Siyu sighed again. She hadn't expected boys their age to be so strongly affected by their hormones.
She continued speaking to Chen Chen about Tian Siyi's popularity.
"You should have seen it when military training ended. The entrance was packed with people, three or four rows deep. You could barely squeeze through!"
Tian Siyi nodded.
"Sister Qin is amazing. With just one shout, she scared them all away!"
Qin Siyu frowned.
"The way you say it makes me sound like some fierce tigress."
Tian Siyi giggled.
"You know that's not what I meant. As soon as you said you'd ask their instructor to give them extra training, they all ran away."
Chen Chen understood what had happened. He bowed his head slightly and apologized to Qin Siyu.
"I'm sorry for causing you trouble."
His sudden serious attitude surprised Qin Siyu.
The truth was, she had asked Tian Siyi to stay partly because of her own selfish reason. Being alone in the medical room all day was boring, and having someone to chat with made it much more enjoyable.
After spending the whole morning together, she had grown quite fond of this beautiful young girl.
Compared to that, this little trouble was nothing.
"It's alright, really. It wasn't much trouble at all. In fact, it made things more interesting. My medical room hasn't been this lively in a long time."
"That's good. It's also nice that she doesn't have to do military training. At least she won't get sunburned."
Chen Chen wasn't sure whether Tian Siyi would remember to put on sunscreen. And even if she did, standing under the blazing sun for hours would still make it hard to keep her skin as fair and soft as it was now.
Qin Siyu smiled at him. "You really care about her."
"We're friends. Of course I care about her."
Tian Siyi noticed that Qin Siyu was about to ask Chen Chen more questions about their relationship, so she immediately picked up a chicken drumstick with her chopsticks and put it into Qin Siyu's lunch box.
"Sister Qin, have a chicken drumstick."
"Huh? What's this for? You don't have to."
By now, Chen Chen was already used to Tian Siyi doing things like this, so he explained,
"She doesn't eat much. She can't finish all of it."
Tian Siyi nodded. "That's right."
"Alright then. I'll gladly take it."
Qin Siyu knew exactly what Tian Siyi was doing.
Giving her the chicken drumstick was simply Tian Siyi's way of stopping her from asking any more questions.
These two are really shy.
Fine. If they don't want to talk about it, I won't ask.
As soon as military training ended, Wang Xiaoxiang brought several of her followers to wait outside the staff dormitory.
They had been waiting there for almost half an hour.
They saw plenty of instructors going in and out, but there was no sign of Tian Siyi.
Of course, Tian Siyi wasn't going to appear.
The reason she had gone to Chen Chen's room before was because she had been sweating and wanted to wipe herself down before taking a shower.
But now she was staying in the air-conditioned medical room, so she wasn't even sweating.
"Sister Xiaoxiang, I don't think she's coming today."
"Yeah. She didn't even show up for military training. Why would she come here?"
Wang Xiaoxiang snorted.
"Have you thought about why she didn't have to join military training?"
"Why?"
They were all curious, but none of them knew the reason.
Did Wang Xiaoxiang know something?
She sneered.
"What else could it be? If she isn't here, she's obviously keeping some leader company. Where else could she be?"
The others immediately nodded in understanding.
"Oh! So that's it. Sister Xiaoxiang really is smart."
But the truth hit them almost immediately.
The next second, one of her followers tapped Wang Xiaoxiang on the back with a phone.
"S-Sister Xiaoxiang... I don't think she's in the staff dormitory after all."
"What? You think your phone can tell you where she is?"
"Look at this!"
Wang Xiaoxiang took the phone.
It showed the school's online forum.
Besides the pinned school rules, the first post was titled "The Angel of the Medical Room."
She opened it. The first thing she saw was a photo of Tian Siyi. Below it was a video of Tian Siyi singing.
"It... sounds really good..."
One of the followers couldn't help whispering.
She immediately shut up after Wang Xiaoxiang shot her a cold glare.
Wang Xiaoxiang closed the video and gritted her teeth.
"So she skipped military training this morning because she stayed in the medical room the whole time?"
"Judging from the comments... yes."
"Sister Xiaoxiang, then..."
"Then what? She must have made some dirty deal with one of the leaders! Otherwise, why does she get to hide in the medical room while the rest of us have to stand out here under the burning sun?"
