Chapter 30: Not Worth Loving
As soon as military training ended, Chen Chen came to the medical office, with Mo Yang following behind him.
Tian Siyi stretched her neck to look behind them and asked, "Why are you two here? Did someone faint again?"
Chen Chen shook his head. "No. I heard those girls are still targeting you, so I was worried."
Tian Siyi laughed. "You were worried about me? When you saw me getting bullied, you didn't even come help!"
"I saw that you'd already handled it."
Mo Yang quickly spoke up for Chen Chen.
"Sister-in-law, don't say that. Brother Chen has really been worried about you. He spent the whole afternoon thinking of ways to help."
"Wait... what did you just call me?"
Tian Siyi stared back and forth between the two of them in surprise.
"Sister-in-law. Is there a problem?" Mo Yang asked.
She pointed at Mo Yang, then looked at Chen Chen.
"Did you teach him to call me that?"
Chen Chen answered calmly,
"Do I look like someone who would do something that childish?"
That didn't sound like something Chen Chen would say. It was probably Mo Yang who thought it would be funny.
Forget it. He can call me whatever he wants. After military training ends, I probably won't see him again anyway.
She stopped worrying about it and asked, "So, did you think of a solution?"
"Don't go back to your dorm. Come stay at my place."
Before Chen Chen could continue, Qin Siyu interrupted him.
"You want a young unmarried girl to live under the same roof as you? That's the best idea you could come up with? Your little plan is written all over your face!"
Chen Chen immediately denied it.
"Don't worry. I won't do anything to her."
Tian Siyi actually believed him.
After all, they had already lived together for more than half a month since she had become a girl. If he had really had those kinds of thoughts, he would have acted on them long ago.
"That part doesn't bother me," she said to Qin Siyu. "We've been living together anyway, so I do trust him."
Then she turned back to Chen Chen.
"But you're a little too late. I've already agreed to stay with Sister Qin."
That was a lot for Mo Yang to take in. He only knew they were good friends. He had never expected that they had already been living together.
It seemed his "sister-in-law" wasn't the wrong title after all.
Chen Chen looked at Qin Siyu.
She was an instructor, so Tian Siyi should be safe staying with her.
"That's fine then. Thank you for looking after her."
"It's no trouble," Qin Siyu replied with a smile. "I really like this little girl."
She was actually a little surprised.
Chen Chen hadn't argued at all.
He had agreed so easily to let Tian Siyi stay with her.
It seemed she had been overthinking things.
Chen Chen really didn't have any improper intentions toward Tian Siyi. Even so, that didn't mean she would let the two of them sleep under the same roof.
They were both young.
No one could guarantee that, in a moment of impulse, something unexpected wouldn't happen.
Since Chen Chen was already here, Qin Siyu decided not to let him leave just yet.
She asked him and Mo Yang to go with Tian Siyi back to the dormitory to collect some clean clothes and daily necessities, while she returned to her own room first to prepare the bed.
As soon as Tian Siyi entered the dormitory, she heard Zhao Xiaoqi complaining.
"Siyi, you bad woman!"
Tian Siyi couldn't help laughing.
"What did I do?"
"You're the only one who doesn't have to do military training while the rest of us have to stand under the hot sun. You're so mean!"
"So what should I do? Break your leg too, and then we can both stay in the medical office enjoying the air conditioning?"
As soon as Zhao Xiaoqi heard that Tian Siyi wanted to break her leg, she quickly tucked both legs under herself to hide them.
"Forget it. I'll just keep doing military training."
"If the medical office isn't too busy tomorrow, I'll bring popsicles for all of you."
Hearing that, Zhao Xiaoqi became excited again.
But instead of shouting happily, she pretended to act serious.
"Since you're being so sincere, I'll reluctantly forgive you."
Tian Siyi simply smiled and kept packing her clothes.
Jiang Luyao noticed what she was doing and asked, "Are you moving out?"
"Yeah. I'm moving into Sister Qin's room."
Jiang Luyao asked, "Did something happen to your foot again?"
"No, not really. It's just..."
"You're moving out?"
Before Tian Siyi could finish, Zhao Xiaoqi suddenly shouted.
Tian Siyi covered her ears and looked at her helplessly.
"Can you keep your voice down a little?"
With a quick jump, Zhao Xiaoqi got off the bed, hugged Tian Siyi, and pleaded,
"Don't move out! I'll wash your clothes from now on!"
Looking into Zhao Xiaoqi's pleading eyes, Tian Siyi almost gave in. She knew why Zhao Xiaoqi didn't want her to leave. The other two roommates were just too quiet.
Even someone as cheerful as Zhao Xiaoqi couldn't handle living in such a silent room all the time.
But for her own safety, and for the safety of her roommates, it was better for her to move out.
If Wang Xiaoxiang came looking for her at their dormitory, her roommates could end up getting dragged into trouble for no reason.
She gently rubbed Zhao Xiaoqi's head and said softly,
"I'm sorry. There are some things that make it necessary for me to move."
Jiang Luyao asked again, "Is it because of your foot?"
Tian Siyi paused.
The way Jiang Luyao asked made it sound as if she knew something.
She nodded and looked at Jiang Luyao's calm face.
Her expression hadn't changed much, but there seemed to be a trace of concern in her beautiful eyes.
In the same calm voice, Jiang Luyao said, "If you need any help, just tell me."
It was the first time Tian Siyi had heard Jiang Luyao speak so much.
It seemed that even this ice-cold beauty didn't want to see her leave.
"Don't worry. I can handle it."
"Okay."
Jiang Luyao nodded and said nothing more.
Tian Siyi continued comforting Zhao Xiaoqi.
"Come on. Even if I move out, you can still come visit me in Sister Qin's room. And I'll bring popsicles for you every day, okay?"
It took quite a while before she finally managed to cheer Zhao Xiaoqi up.
There actually wasn't much to pack.
Just some clean underwear, her toiletries, and her skincare products.
Everything fit into one bag.
When she returned to the dormitory entrance, she saw several girls gathered around Chen Chen.
They seemed to be trying to start a conversation with him.
A small smile appeared on her face.
She didn't walk over right away.
No matter how urgent things were, she couldn't ruin her friend's chance with the girls.
Besides, she wasn't in a hurry.
However, Chen Chen noticed her as soon as she appeared.
He walked past the girls and came straight to her.
"Finished packing?"
Tian Siyi nodded, then stretched her neck to look at the girls who were still standing there.
"What about them?"
"They wanted my contact information. I already turned them down."
"You weren't interested?"
"No."
Tian Siyi joked, "You rejected them and then immediately came over to me. Am I going to end up with more people hating me again?"
"I don't think so. Most people aren't that extreme."
Chen Chen looked back at the girls.
They had already walked away, grumbling to themselves.
People like Wang Xiaoxiang, who would directly block someone's path, were actually rare.
Still, situations like this could affect Tian Siyi's reputation.
Tian Siyi shrugged.
"Forget it. I can't make everyone like me. If someone stops liking me over something this small, then they're not worthy of liking me anyway."
