Chapter 101: Weakness and Strength

As usual, Su Moyu came out of her part-time place and walked over to Bai Shuchuan.

Having grown up with him since childhood, she immediately felt that something was off.

She reached out and held his hand, then leaned forward slightly to look at his face, only to meet his gloomy expression.

“What’s wrong? Why do you look so worried?”

Her gentle voice seemed to touch something deep inside him.

When he received the news, Bai Shuchuan had already started to feel lost.

Everything happened too suddenly. His first instinct was to pack his things and go back, but then he realized he hadn’t told Su Moyu yet.

Now he stood in front of her, in front of this girl who was a head shorter than him.

He looked into her eyes. They were beautiful and clear, and every time he met that gaze, he felt a little uneasy.

Su Moyu blinked and tugged at his hand again.

“Should we go home first?” she asked softly.

“Okay,” he replied after a moment, the tension in his heart easing a little.

He tightened his grip on her fingers. Her hand felt soft and smooth.

Su Moyu knew that when he acted like this, it definitely wasn’t something good.

But what was it?

She followed him out of the school gate and into the subway station. He didn’t say a word, just silently followed behind her.

The warmth in his hand was still the same, though maybe it was just her imagination. His fingers felt a little cold.

The subway was crowded at this time.

They stepped into the train. He held onto the rail, while Su Moyu, as usual, leaned against him and scrolled through short videos on her phone.

One of his arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her a little closer.

He often did this.

But this time, she sensed something different and looked up at his face.

At that moment, he suddenly felt a bit embarrassed.

Getting such news so suddenly made his thoughts feel cut off. His orderly life had suddenly become a mess.

So he felt like… he wasn’t handling it well.

Like he couldn’t bear all of this.

Bai Shuchuan thought helplessly, his gaze slowly falling onto the top of her head.

But when he saw Su Moyu, the panic inside him suddenly found something to lean on. Everything felt steadier.

She became his comfort, the place he could hide when he felt weak.

But he didn’t realize that. He only felt that he looked pathetic.

He had always thought of himself as independent, someone who could deal with most difficulties.

Su Moyu had always been a big part of his life, but he had never felt this much need for her before.

The faint scent of her hair filled his senses. She leaned against him, her soft body gently calming his restless thoughts.

Su Moyu noticed something was wrong. Even though he usually held her like this on the subway…

The two of them stayed silent as they got off the train and returned to the room.

Home is always a place of comfort. Su Moyu stood in front of him and pushed the door open. From his point of view, she looked very small. Even though she had been like this for quite a long time, Bai Shuchuan still felt a bit surprised.

The girl turned her head and gave him a gentle smile.

“Is your dad sick?” she asked softly.

Before Bai Shuchuan could answer, he felt warmth in his hand again.

Su Moyu held his hand and led him inside.

Everything in the house was still so familiar. There was a certain smell in the air, hard to describe, but very calming.

“Yeah,” Bai Shuchuan replied quietly. He looked very tired.

“Then let’s pack up and go back,” she said softly. “Have you bought the tickets?”

Bai Shuchuan shook his head, showing that he hadn’t done anything yet.

Su Moyu gave a helpless smile. Looking up at him, so much taller than her, she suddenly felt like she was taking care of a child.

Maybe this is what Bai Shuchuan is like… as a boyfriend.

She joked to herself silently, but the mood right now was heavy, so she didn’t say it out loud.

Looking at his familiar face, Su Moyu suddenly thought of many moments from the past.

She hadn’t seen him show this kind of expression often.

Not when his grades were bad, not when he failed to win competitions… but she had seen it before, when they argued and didn’t talk for days. He looked just like this.

It was quiet around them. This was a space that belonged only to the two of them, their real home.

In this place, they had hugged and kissed, leaned on each other, and done what many couples do.

But suddenly, Su Moyu felt shy.

It wasn’t like the first time he saw her body, and it wasn’t the embarrassment of showing her feelings. She stood on her toes and gently kissed his lips. It was just a simple kiss, nothing special, but her heart still started beating very fast.

“Go pack your things. We’ll leave soon and go back to see your parents,” she said softly.

Bai Shuchuan pressed his lips together, something flickering in his eyes.

Su Moyu’s gaze was naturally drawn to him. She really liked his deep eyes.

“Okay,” Bai Shuchuan said. He lowered his head and lightly kissed her forehead.

Su Moyu gave him a small smile and watched as he turned and walked into the room.

She sat down on the sofa to book the tickets, but her mind kept replaying what just happened…

What are you thinking about?!

She scolded herself in her mind.

Why am I still thinking about these random things?

She needed to settle things quickly. She still had to find time to comfort Bai Shuchuan.

Su Moyu sighed softly. Life really liked to play tricks.

She had somehow been reborn, and both she and Bai Shuchuan had been given another chance at life… but now his father had fallen sick.

This sudden turn of events made her feel like things weren’t that simple. But then again, if something as strange as being reborn and turning into a girl could happen to her, what else could be considered impossible?

She calmed her messy thoughts. After booking the tickets, she sent a message to Bai Xiaqing.

“Sister Xiaqing, how is Dad’s condition?”

Bai Xiaqing replied with a picture. It was taken in a hospital hallway. Bai’s mother was sitting beside her, curled up tightly.

“He suddenly fainted this afternoon. He’s still in the ICU.”
