Chapter 104: Please Hug Her

After getting on the high-speed train, Su Moyu sat there bored, looking at her phone. The internet on the train was bad, so she downloaded an offline game to play.

Bai Shuchuan leaned back in his seat to rest. As soon as he closed his eyes, he felt a heavy pressure in his heart, like he couldn’t breathe.

Su Moyu leaned against his shoulder and watched short videos out of boredom.

His scent filled her nose. She secretly looked at his face and saw that he had his eyes closed, looking calm.

Actually, Su Moyu didn’t really understand her own feelings right now. After all, it wasn’t her own family. She had never experienced losing a family member, so she couldn’t truly feel the same pain. The comfort she gave Bai Shuchuan was more like care from someone close to him.

But the care she received from Bai Shuchuan’s parents made her realize that they really treated her like family.

She looked out the window. The train slowly started moving, and the scenery outside gradually moved backward. With the light rain falling, her mood became strangely calm.

After a while, she slowly fell asleep.

Su Moyu felt Bai Shuchuan move, so she half-opened her eyes and saw him putting his coat over her.

She pressed her lips together. The warmth from the coat made her whole body relax.

He’s actually quite caring at times…

She thought sleepily. When Bai Shuchuan leaned back again, she rested her head on his shoulder once more.

“We’re here…” Bai Shuchuan’s low voice sounded near her ear. Su Moyu opened her eyes and saw him taking their luggage down from the rack above.

She returned the coat to him and followed him out of the station.

By the time they arrived at the city hospital, Bai Shuchuan’s father’s condition had already stabilized.

Bai Shuchuan waited in the hospital corridor. His father was still in the intensive care unit. The hallway was quiet, yet filled with noise at the same time, women crying, the sounds of machines, and low voices of men talking.

Su Moyu sat silently beside Bai Shuchuan and gently reached out to hold his hand.

Bai’s mother and Bai Xiaqing also stayed silent. Everyone seemed to understand each other without speaking.

“Do you want something to eat?” Bai Xiaqing asked at that moment. Su Moyu turned to look at her. Her face looked tired, but she didn’t seem too overwhelmed with sadness.

“Uh…” Su Moyu hesitated. “No, it’s okay.”

Even though the two of them hadn’t eaten anything since getting off the train.

Bai Xiaqing went out to buy food.

Su Moyu carefully asked about the situation. Bai’s mother answered weakly.

It was roughly a problem with his lungs. The fainting itself wasn’t too serious, and his condition was now mostly stable.

“He was always very healthy before…”

Bai’s mother’s voice suddenly became choked with tears. Su Moyu and Bai Shuchuan both froze for a moment as they saw her eyes quickly turn red, tears welling up.

“I don’t know why this suddenly happened…”

She took a tissue and covered her eyes, letting out soft sobs.

A hint of sympathy appeared in Su Moyu’s eyes. She gently tapped the back of Bai Shuchuan’s hand with her fingers.

“Hug her, like you hugged me.”

She whispered softly into his ear.

Su Moyu let go of his hand. Bai Shuchuan turned to look at her face. When their eyes met, her expression was full of helplessness, with a bit of stubbornness like a boy, but also showing gratitude and guilt at the same time.

Bai Shuchuan silently put his arm around his mother’s shoulders. For the first time, he realized how thin and fragile she felt.

She leaned against his strong shoulder, and her crying slowly became louder than all the other noises around them.

Su Moyu smiled softly and gently patted Bai Shuchuan’s head.

She didn’t even know why, but she suddenly felt a quiet sense of comfort in her heart.

Looking at the mother and son hugging each other, she suddenly felt a bit jealous.

To be honest, she herself couldn’t bring herself to openly show her feelings to her own mother.

Even though she always told Bai Shuchuan to do it, it was only because of things she had read in books.

Would there ever be a moment when she could suddenly grow up like that too?

As she was thinking, her eyes drifted to a bag on the floor nearby. Inside were many daily items, even a blanket.

It was probably prepared to stay and take care of Bai Shuchuan’s father.

After a while, when Bai Xiaqing came back, Bai’s mother had already calmed down.

But seeing Bai Shuchuan sitting there with his head lowered, silent and expressionless, she subconsciously tried to start a conversation.

The atmosphere was too heavy…

“Here, these are fish balls Susu likes. No cilantro,” Bai Xiaqing said, handing the packed food to Su Moyu. Su Moyu took it and said thank you.

“We don’t know when your parents will arrive,” Bai Xiaqing added.

Su Moyu blinked in confusion, then suddenly realized something and quickly took out her phone.

“Why isn’t my girl replying to messages?”

Her phone was set to silent, and she had forgotten to check it earlier.

“They should be here soon,” Su Moyu replied after sending a message.

“Sigh…” Bai Xiaqing let out a soft sigh.

Su Moyu lowered her head and tried to untie the plastic bag, but her nails were too short to open it.

At that moment, Bai Shuchuan reached out to help. Su Moyu softly said thank you, then picked up a small spoon and started eating.

“Mom, you should eat something too,” Bai Shuchuan said, handing his bowl over.

“I don’t really have an appetite right now…”

“Don’t let your own health get worse. We still need to take care of Dad,” Bai Xiaqing reminded her.

“Okay,” Bai’s mother replied, but she still sat there blankly.

Su Moyu was really hungry and quickly finished her food.

She stayed sitting beside Bai Shuchuan, looking toward the small view inside the intensive care unit, her heart filled with mixed feelings.

After a while, her parents arrived, and some of Bai Shuchuan’s relatives came too. The adults began talking among themselves.

Fortunately, things were going well. When the doctor said he could be moved to a normal ward soon, Su Moyu finally saw a look of relief on Bai’s mother’s face.

Bai Xiaqing told Bai Shuchuan to take Su Moyu back to the hotel to rest. Su Moyu felt a bit uneasy about it.

They rushed back but didn’t even get to see his father…

Although people weren’t allowed to visit the ICU freely.

“Sister Xiaqing, please take care of yourself too,” Su Moyu said with concern.

Bai Xiaqing gave her a tired smile. “Okay, I will.”

After that, Su Moyu followed Bai Shuchuan back to the hotel.
