“So tiring~”
As soon as she entered the room, An Han dropped the cold, serious look she always kept outside. She took off her jacket, casually threw it onto the sofa, then jumped onto it and sank in. Hugging a pillow, she yawned again and again.
“Taking public transport is always exhausting! Especially that bus, no seats at all. I had to stand for a whole hour!”
Her legs were already not feeling great, and standing for an hour made it worse. Luckily, Su Peng was strong, so she could lean on him a bit and save some energy.
Su Peng walked in slowly and glanced at her. “Your skirt is almost showing.”
An Han had her legs lifted, and the short skirt slid up a little, barely covering her hips.
“Really?” She looked down at her not-so-proper pose, then looked up at Su Peng with a mischievous smile. “Want to see?”
“……”
She suddenly jumped up from the sofa, faced Su Peng, slowly bent forward, and reached down to grab the edge of her skirt, lifting it slightly.
That small movement caught Su Peng’s eyes. The next second, she flipped the skirt up completely.
“Safety shorts!”
“I knew it,” Su Peng said.
“Disappointed?” she teased.
“Childish.”
Even though Su Peng already knew that An Han always wore safety shorts, or even shorts, under skirts, that hidden space still made him hope for something. As expected, his hopes were crushed.
Her laughter, full of mischief, filled the living room. Seeing her laughing so hard she could barely stand straight, Su Peng could only shake his head helplessly. He was already used to these harmless pranks.
He walked toward the bathroom. But just after he closed the door, An Han’s loud voice came from outside.
“Su Peng! We’re out of cola! And the milk is almost gone too. Go buy some! I want sugar-free cola, get a whole box!”
“Wait, I’m using the bathroom.”
“Then I’ll go myself.”
She hadn’t had sugar-free cola for three days while at home. It was hard to find in her hometown, and when she asked nearby small shops, the owners just said, “Who would buy that?”
Even though her legs were still a bit weak, she couldn’t wait. She put on her shoes and hurried out again.
Across the road from the apartment was a large supermarket, only a five- or six-minute walk.
An Han lightly jogged inside and went straight to the drinks section.
“Sugar-free cola… sugar-free cola…”
While scanning the shelves for boxed drinks, her eyes suddenly caught someone not far away. She happily walked over and called out.
“Brother Ren!”
Ren Chi turned around and immediately saw the lively, pretty girl.
He casually waved as a greeting and lowered his head to keep looking at drinks. But the next moment, he suddenly raised his head again and stared at An Han.
She was startled by his reaction and stopped a short distance away.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing… it just feels like you’ve become a lot prettier?”
He had seen An Han before the May holiday. Back then, she felt like a playful girl-next-door. Now, she seemed to have a bit more maturity and charm.
“Really?”
The system hadn’t added any new stats recently, right?
An Han didn’t think much of it. Smiling, she walked closer, about to say something, when Ren Chi asked again.
“Your foot hurts?”
“……”
Was it really that obvious?!
She had tried so hard to walk normally!
“I fell by accident before,” An Han said awkwardly, making up an excuse.
“Oh, be more careful usually,” Ren Chi said as he casually picked up two bottles of juice and put them into the cart. As they walked, he reminded her like always, “Try not to go out too much at night. If anything happens, call me right away. I approved your staying off campus, if something goes wrong, I won’t be able to take responsibility…”
“I know, you say it every time…”
He was just like a nagging mom, or more like an older brother with a strong sense of duty.
“Anyway, just don’t cause me trouble,” Ren Chi said, then suddenly asked, “Long Xing got a girlfriend, right? I saw his confession video in the group chat.”
That day, Long Xing had confessed in public under the teaching building, drawing a big crowd. Many people recorded it, so Ren Chi saw the videos too.
“Yeah, probably,” An Han replied.
“That’s good,” Ren Chi said, letting out a sigh of relief.
Who knew that Long Xing would catch him wearing girls’ clothes and then fall in love at first sight?
Ren Chi had been a bit worried before, but now that Long Xing had a girlfriend, he finally felt at ease.
An Han followed Ren Chi into the snack area. She hesitated for a moment, then spoke up, “Brother Ren, can you help Su Peng apply to stay off campus too? He’s working now, and going back to the dorm every night for late check-in is really troublesome.”
“Su Peng? He’s living with you now, right?”
“Yeah.”
She felt a bit guilty and awkward, her face turning slightly red.
“Aren’t you afraid your parents will find out?”
“They already know… I even got engaged to Su Peng during this holiday…”
Ren Chi froze and turned to look at An Han in shock. Seeing the blush on her face, he asked again as if waking from a dream, “So fast? You’re already engaged?”
Last semester, the person in front of him had still been a thin, cute-looking boy. In just over half a year, she had become more attractive, found a boyfriend, and even got engaged?!
He looked her up and down and suddenly felt that reality was unreal.
“Yeah.”
Seeing his surprised expression, An Han couldn’t help smiling a little. Sharing happy news really did feel good, just a bit embarrassing.
“You’re only twenty-one, right? That’s really early,” Ren Chi said, looking like he’d seen a ghost, his face turning pale and then red.
Even his students were getting engaged, while he himself was still single. He spent his days playing with cats and wearing women’s clothes. Forget about a girlfriend, he barely had any female friends his age.
Suddenly, he felt a strong urge to find a girlfriend too.
“Brother Ren~ a gift!”
An Han took out some candy she had grabbed from the banquet the day before and handed it to him.
“Tsk… since you’re engaged so early, when are you getting married?”
“No idea. Anyway, it’ll definitely be after graduation,” she said, not very confidently. She was still a bit afraid of marriage, especially since Su Peng’s parents didn’t think very highly of her.
Ren Chi nodded. “Remember to invite me then. I won’t give a cash gift.”
That was really cheap!
“I’ll handle Su Peng’s off-campus application tomorrow. After that, he won’t need to go back to the dorm every night for roll call.”
“Great!”
Cheap as he was, compared to someone like Chen Junjie, the counselor at least did some useful things.
After saying goodbye to Ren Chi, An Han carried a box of canned sugar-free cola to the counter to pay.
But her eyes suddenly drifted to the side, where small, delicate boxes were displayed near the counter.
She would probably need to keep these at home in the future…
But she was too shy to buy them.
