Chapter 399: Civil Service Exam!

“I told you not to drink, but you still drank so much,” Su Peng sighed as he helped the unsteady An Han walk out of the food stall. He looked back and saw Long Xing and Chen Junjie, two drunk men, leaning on each other and wobbling along behind them.

“Can you two make it back?” he asked.

“Don’t worry,” Long Xing said, waving his hand while yawning. He had one arm around Chen Junjie’s shoulder, his steps unsteady. “We’ll be fine. I’m not drunk.”

Hearing that, Su Peng felt even more worried.

“How about coming to my and An Han’s rental place for the night? There’s a guest bedroom,” he suggested.

The apartment was closer to the food stall, and there were no stairs. Su Peng could also look after them more easily.

Long Xing was about to refuse, but when he turned his head, he almost threw up. Luckily, he closed his mouth in time and swallowed it back down.

Su Peng’s eyelid twitched. “Yeah… you’re coming with me.”

While supporting An Han, he also had to keep an eye on the two drunk men stumbling along. The distance wasn’t far, but it took them almost half an hour to walk it carefully.

When they reached the apartment, Chen Junjie immediately collapsed onto the floor. Long Xing rushed toward the bathroom, but the more he ran, the lower he seemed to get, until he finally dropped to his knees.

Su Peng quickly handed a trash can to him. Long Xing hugged it and threw up loudly and freely.

“A bunch of drunks,” An Han muttered. She swayed over and sat on the sofa. Surprisingly, she was very quiet when drunk. She rested her chin on her hands and watched Su Peng busy himself. “The place is definitely going to smell tomorrow.”

“You say that like you didn’t drink,” Su Peng replied.

“I only drank a little,” she said, raising her hand and pinching her thumb and index finger close together. “Just a tiny bit!”

Su Peng glanced at her. Her eyes were unfocused and blank, and she was shaking her head and twisting her waist without realizing it. Yeah, she had only drunk “a tiny bit.”

“Stop messing around. I’ll drag those two into the guest room. Then you take a shower and go to sleep,” he said.

“I don’t want to shower!” An Han’s voice was sharper than usual.

“I’ll help you wash,” Su Peng said.

She froze for a moment, then grinned with a teasing smile. “You’re thinking bad thoughts.”

“Thinking what huh?”

There were still two other people in the house, and An Han was speaking loudly. Su Peng definitely didn’t want anyone else hearing this, and he didn’t have that kind of weird hobby either.

“Don’t be shy~ We’re like an old married couple already~” she teased.

Ignoring her, Su Peng finally managed to drag the two drunk men into the guest room and barely got them onto the bed. He sighed helplessly.

Tomorrow, he’d probably have to wash the sheets and blankets again. The guest room might be a mess from vomiting too.

Good thing he was already sleeping with An Han now…

After closing the guest room door, Su Peng walked back toward the sofa to deal with An Han.

“We agreed before going out that you wouldn’t drink.”

“Did we?” An Han looked up, her face bright red.

Because she was drunk, she couldn’t see clearly. She tried hard to open her eyes wide and looked at Su Peng with a dazed, confused expression. She looked especially cute.

No matter how cute she was, he still couldn’t let her drink again.

Su Peng reached out and firmly rubbed her head. She cried out and curled up to dodge, but ended up trapping herself in the corner of the sofa, small and helpless, taking his rough affection.

“Alright. I’ll go get your clothes. Get ready to take a shower,” he said.

“Don’t want to shower…” she mumbled.

Su Peng ignored her and turned toward the bedroom. Then he heard An Han muttering softly again.

“Su Peng… we’re about to graduate and start working…”

“Hmm?” He could hear strong sadness and confusion in An Han’s voice.

He turned back and saw An Han leaning over the armrest of the sofa, looking at him with watery eyes. Her pitiful expression made his heart ache.

“One by one, you’re all doing internships already, but I still have no idea what I’ll do in the future…”

An Han looked miserable. “I can’t do anything. I didn’t really learn anything in school. I even sent resumes during the spring job season, but no one replied to me at all!”

“I’m really scared of working… I don’t know how to do anything…”

“The system is useless too. All it does every day is cause trouble and weird things…”

Su Peng frowned with a headache. She was clearly starting to talk nonsense from being drunk.

He wasn’t very good at comforting girls, so he carefully asked, “Then… how about being a full-time housewife?”

An Han shook her head hard. She had no interest at all in that role.

“No way!”

“Then…”

“I’ve decided! I’m going to take the civil service exam!”

Su Peng froze. He saw An Han suddenly sit up straight. She wiped her tears away. Just a moment ago she was very sad, but now her expression changed completely.

An Han jumped up excitedly and moved close to Su Peng. Her big eyes were shining.

“Su Peng! Your parents would definitely like a daughter-in-law who’s a civil servant, right? Stable job, no worries, right? If I become a civil servant, their liking for me will definitely go way up!”

“But… it’s hard to pass, isn’t it?” Su Peng said.

“I’m not afraid of exams at all!”

She put her hands on her hips proudly. “The only thing to worry about is the interview! But I’m so good-looking, they’ll definitely like me more in interviews!”

It wasn’t really about looks, but with her charm and bonus favor traits, An Han felt she would naturally do well in interviews. Besides, interviews should count as exams too, right?

One moment she cried, the next she laughed, and now she looked smug with her nose held high. Su Peng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He nodded.

“Alright. Go for the civil service exam.”

This was the first time he realized how emotional An Han became when drunk.

“Then I’ll wait for the final exams to test it first… just in case I get tricked again,” An Han muttered as she walked toward the master bedroom. “I’ll also see what kind of position is better.”

Su Peng followed behind her, keeping his eyes on her unsteady steps.

As expected, the moment she entered the bedroom, An Han’s legs suddenly went weak and she fell forward. Su Peng rushed ahead and caught her by the waist just before she hit the ground.

An Han turned her head. Her bright eyes from earlier were now half-open with exhaustion. She naturally wrapped her arms around Su Peng’s neck and pulled him down with her onto the bed.

“Sleep…”

“Shower first,” Su Peng said.

“I don’t want to shower.”

“I’ll help you.”

Su Peng freed himself from her grip and went to the wardrobe to look for pajamas.

But in less than two minutes, he heard An Han snoring behind him.

He sighed again and had no choice but to put the pajamas down. He sat at the bedside and looked at An Han, who was sleeping in a messy, spread-out position.

Not only was her sleeping posture ugly, her clothes were also a mess. Her T-shirt had somehow rolled up to her waist. From time to time, she would stop snoring, reach into her shorts, and scratch her thigh.

Su Peng didn’t dare look too much. It wasn’t that he was scared, he was worried that drunk An Han would be too hard for him to handle.

Besides, there were still two other people sleeping in the guest room.

“Just don’t throw up on me,” he muttered.

Su Peng lay down beside her. He smelled the alcohol on An Han. For some reason, the smell became sweeter the more he noticed it, slowly mixing with her natural scent, making him move a little closer.

As if she sensed him, An Han immediately turned into an octopus and hugged him tightly.

“Sleep~”
