Chapter 401: Chen Junjie

“Damn, I drank way too much. My head hurts.”

Early in the morning, Chen Junjie cursed under his breath as he pushed open the door of the second bedroom. Rubbing his temples, he looked around the unfamiliar place.

A few clothes were thrown messily on the sofa. The trash can was full. Two unwashed bowls sat on the table. The room was a little messy, but it felt lived-in. At the same time, he caught a light milky smell in the air, soft and comforting.

Ever since An Han moved out of the dorm, he hadn’t smelled that kind of scent again.

“An Han is living pretty well out here,” he muttered after glancing around the apartment.

He turned back and shouted toward the room where Long Xing was still snoring, “Get up! Are you going to class or not?”

Long Xing suddenly opened his eyes, quickly felt around his pockets for his phone, then lay back down weakly a moment later.

“It’s so early… Let’s skip it, okay? I drank too much. I feel awful.”

Even Long Xing, who used to be the most serious about classes, had been ruined.

“We still have to go back to the dorm first. It’s not good to keep staying at An Han’s place.”

“Give me half an hour. Let me recover a bit.”

Yawning, Chen Junjie walked into the bathroom. He had to admit, a place where a girl lived really was different. The bathroom smelled lightly fresh. It was very clean. The toilet seat even had a soft cover. Skincare products were lined up neatly. The tiled floor was spotless, without water stains. Even the glass divider had been wiped clean.

No matter how he looked at it, it didn’t feel like something An Han would do.

That girl used to run over to his bed on purpose while smelling like sweat and roll around on it.

“Ridiculous.”

Thinking about it, aside from Wang Sheng, who had a bit of a cleanliness obsession, An Han was actually the cleanest in the dorm. She was also quite hardworking. Most of the time, the dorm bathroom was cleaned by An Han when she couldn’t stand the mess anymore.

“Being with Su Peng really turned her into a good wife type…”

If An Han had been like this when they first met in freshman year, Su Peng wouldn’t have stood a chance.

“Maybe Su Peng did the cleaning?”

There was no spare towel in the bathroom. Chen Junjie scooped some water with his hands and washed his face quickly to wake himself up a bit, then walked out. Just then, he heard a door open from the direction of the master bedroom.

He turned his head and saw An Han peeking out cautiously.

“Up so early?” An Han quickly noticed him and smiled. “It’s just past six. Want breakfast?”

Such a warm and friendly An Han made Chen Junjie freeze for a second. He turned his head away and answered awkwardly, “Sure, I guess.”

“Then I’ll make it for you!”

“Make it?” Chen Junjie thought she would go downstairs to buy food.

“Yeah. There are lots of dumplings and tangyuan in the fridge.”

An Han pulled her head back into the bedroom. A moment later, she came out wearing Su Peng’s jacket.

She rubbed her neck. After waking up in the middle of the night, she couldn’t fall asleep again. Su Peng went back to sleep after eating a late-night snack, but she stayed up all night reading novels, leaving her eyes sore and her neck stiff.

As she walked toward the kitchen, she suddenly stopped and turned to look at Chen Junjie, who was still standing by the bathroom door.

“Why are you spacing out there? Go sit on the sofa and wait.”

“Huh? Oh!” Chen Junjie hurriedly ran to the sofa.

“Is Brother Long up? Does he want some too?”

“He’s awake, but probably still lying there spacing out.”

“Then I’ll make a portion for him too… You guys drank so much last night. Are you still going to class today?”

“We’re skipping.”

An Han squatted in front of the fridge, searching through the freezer packed full of food. Her tone was full of envy as she said,

“I already took leave yesterday. If I don’t go today, Brother Ren might come knocking on my door to beat me…”

“Who is Brother Ren?”

“The class counselor.”

She took two packs of tangyuan out of the fridge, then turned back and asked Chen Junjie, who was sitting stiffly on the sofa, “Do you want meat filling or sweet filling?”

“You can eat meat ones?”

“Meat tangyuan are the best in the world, okay! You just don’t know how to enjoy good food!”

When An Han raised her voice in that annoying, familiar way, Chen Junjie’s stiff body finally relaxed a lot.

Good. She wasn’t possessed by aliens.

She had suddenly become warm and cute, and that really made him uncomfortable.

“Dark cuisine,” he muttered.

“Tsk~ You haven’t even tried it and you’re already talking nonsense. No wonder you got cheated on.”

Being mocked like that actually made Chen Junjie feel even more relaxed. The awkwardness he had at the start was completely gone, and he tried to keep arguing with An Han like before.

But An Han quickly skipped the topic. She took out two cans of peanut milk from the fridge, smiling gently and brightly.

“Do you want peanut milk? Heat it up or drink it cold? In the morning, it’s better hot, right? So you don’t upset your stomach.”

Chen Junjie froze again.

He really couldn’t get used to such a gentle, housewife-like An Han… He never expected her to actually make breakfast for him herself. Even though it was just frozen food, it still felt unreal.

Wasn’t she supposed to be careless, always causing trouble, picking fights every day, and constantly thinking about pranking her roommates and classmates?

He almost didn’t recognize the An Han in front of him anymore. If she had always been like this, they wouldn’t have argued every day and become sworn enemies.

At the same time, a bit of jealousy toward Su Peng quietly rose in his heart.

The grass by the nest had been eaten by another rabbit. So sour…

“A-Anything is fine.”

After getting his answer, An Han turned and went into the kitchen. Once she put things down and made sure she couldn’t be seen, the gentle smile on her face completely broke. One hand covered her mouth, the other held her stomach, as she struggled to hold back her laughter.

This was the first time she had ever seen Chen Junjie like this!

She had only planned to be a little nicer to him since they wouldn’t meet much in the future, but who knew he would actually get shy and nervous.

They had been enemies for almost three years. Was he really this easy to tease?

An Han quietly laughed for a long time. After several minutes, she finally managed to stop and, in a great mood, started making breakfast.

She’d find another chance to tease Chen Junjie later~

She put the tangyuan into the pot, poured the peanut milk into bowls, and put them into the microwave. After most of the work was done, An Han poked her head out of the kitchen and secretly looked at Chen Junjie.

Mm, just looking at how stiff he was made her want to laugh.

“Junjie!”

“What?” Chen Junjie jumped at the soft, sweet call.

“Help me wake Su Peng up. He should get up and get ready for work.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Thank you~”

As Chen Junjie stood up, that overly sweet “thank you” almost made his legs go weak. He nearly dropped back onto the sofa.

He turned his head toward the kitchen in shock, but An Han had already pulled her head back inside. He couldn’t see her anymore.

“There’s definitely something wrong with her head. She never used to say thank you… except when she asked me to bring food,” he muttered.

This woman was terrifying!
