Chapter 402: Small and Pitiful

Chen Junjie sat on the sofa with nothing to do, drinking the warm peanut milk An Han had heated for him. He took a bite of the frozen tangyuan and occasionally looked up at An Han, feeling that everything was unreal.

An Han, who used to argue with him every time they met, was actually making breakfast for him?

He watched An Han sweeping the floor, cleaning up, and taking out the trash. Little by little, his fixed image of her began to change.

That short, annoying kid from before had really turned into a gentle, soft, and very feminine girl…

Before this, even though Chen Junjie had watched An Han become prettier and more feminine day by day, he had never truly seen her as a woman.

“You’re up so early?”

“Yeah.”

Chen Junjie turned his head and saw Su Peng yawning as he walked out of the bedroom.

Bare-chested, Su Peng sat down next to Chen Junjie, pulled on the T-shirt that had been thrown on the sofa, and stretched.

“An Han, where’s breakfast? I’m going to be late for work.”

“It’s in the kitchen. I’ll get it for you.”

An Han tied up a bag of trash and placed it by the door, then jogged to the kitchen. As she went, she reminded Su Peng, “Remember to take the trash out when you leave.”

“Got it.”

Watching how the two of them interacted, Chen Junjie felt they didn’t seem like a couple at all, but more like an old married couple.

He looked at Su Peng with deep confusion. He really didn’t know how this guy had managed to turn that annoying little boy into someone like this.

“Why are you staring at me?” Su Peng rubbed his sore eyes and crossed one leg.

“This An Han… is she usually like this?”

“Yeah, I guess. Most of the time, she takes care of me.”

Chen Junjie muttered quietly, “This is unbelievable…”

Why didn’t she act this way back in the dorm? Back then, she was noisy and loud every day…

“When are you leaving?” Su Peng asked.

“Thursday. The train ride takes a whole day and night. Just thinking about it makes me tired.”

“Your home is that far? You never mentioned it.”

Su Peng didn’t have much contact with An Han’s roommates, and An Han and Chen Junjie were always enemies, so she never cared where his hometown was.

“Hunan.”

“Oh, yeah, that is pretty far…”

An Han came over with the peanut milk and placed the breakfast on the table. She asked curiously, “What are you guys talking about?”

“Junjie said he’s from Hunan.”

“Hunan?” An Han had never left the province in her life and didn’t have much idea about it, so she changed the topic. “Junjie, are you and Brother Long going to class today?”

“No.”

“Then why isn’t Brother Long up yet? You can’t just stay here after Su Peng and I leave, right?”

“I’ll go wake him up.”

For some reason, even though Chen Junjie used to be very relaxed around An Han, now he was being unusually careful. He quickly put down his bowl and chopsticks and jogged into the second bedroom.

As soon as he left, An Han burst out laughing.

She sat down next to Su Peng, leaned toward him, and whispered into his ear, “You have no idea. I was just a little nicer to Junjie, and he got so nervous, like I was about to eat him.”

“He’s probably just not used to it,” Su Peng said.

“It’s like he’s never seen a girl before.”

Su Peng also looked a bit awkward. He instinctively leaned away, but An Han leaned closer again, sticking to him and happily continuing to share the story.

“All I did was make him some frozen tangyuan and talk a bit more gently, that’s all~”

“Oh…”

“What’s wrong?”

“Don’t stay so close to me. There are other people here.”

As An Han spoke, her breath brushed against his ear, making it feel warm and itchy. She was so close that the light, sweet scent unique to her was very clear.

“Other people?” An Han froze for a moment, then realized what he meant and lowered her eyes to look at Su Peng’s leg.

She grinned with a teasing smile. “If you keep this up, you’ll end up with weak kidneys sooner or later~”

“……”

“Eat your breakfast and go to work. Stop thinking nonsense.” An Han rolled her eyes and pulled a sofa pillow over, pressing it onto Su Peng’s leg. “Since you know Junjie and Brother Long are here, act a bit more normal, okay? Don’t let them laugh at us.”

“My wife is just too pretty. Any man would lose control,” Su Peng said.

An Han picked up another pillow and smacked it onto Su Peng’s head. “So cheesy! Who’s your wife?”

As she spoke, she suddenly felt two pairs of eyes on her. She quickly looked up, straightened her back in a small panic, and quietly moved her hips away from Su Peng.

Who knew when Chen Junjie and Long Xing had come out of the room!

Teasing Su Peng in front of her former roommates made her feel strangely embarrassed. Her cheeks turned pink.

She forced herself to look calm and asked Long Xing like nothing had happened, “Brother Long, are you eating before you leave, or…?”

“I’ll eat something on the way back. I won’t disturb you two,” Long Xing replied.

“Disturb? Not at all…” An Han said.

“If I don’t leave now, I won’t even be eating breakfast. I’m already full from all this lovey-dovey stuff,” Chen Junjie muttered as he walked toward the door.

Now that Long Xing had a girlfriend, Chen Junjie was the only single one left. Seeing how close An Han and Su Peng were made him feel a bit sour inside.

“Did you finish your tangyuan?” An Han asked.

“Yeah. I’m leaving.”

Chen Junjie and Long Xing didn’t even wash up. Still messy and smelling strongly of alcohol, they walked out the door.

After the door closed, An Han finally relaxed. She leaned back and let out a soft sigh, mumbling to herself, “When we have our wedding one day, we really shouldn’t invite Brother Long and the others…”

“Why?” Su Peng asked.

“At a wedding, there’ll definitely be kissing and hugging, right? They know me too well. Having them watch from below would be way too embarrassing.”

Just imagining that scene gave her goosebumps.

Su Peng stood up and pulled the curtains closed. The awkward feeling from before faded as Long Xing left. He teased An Han, “You’ve only just gotten engaged, and you’re already thinking about the wedding?”

“Why are you closing the curtains?” An Han asked, even though she already knew the answer. She glanced at the time and asked with a bit of worry, “Will you still make it to work?”

“Probably. Being late once or twice won’t matter.”

Ever since they got engaged, Su Peng seemed to want it almost every day. She wasn’t scared and didn’t back down, but she did worry. He was strong now, but what if his body couldn’t handle it in a few years…

Su Peng closed the curtains and turned off the light. The room became dim.

He walked toward An Han on the sofa. As he walked, he took off his shirt, showing his strong, well-built body. The V-shaped lines on his lower stomach caught An Han’s eyes right away.

Her heart started beating faster, her face grew hot, and she moved back a little, uneasy, toward the corner of the sofa.

She looked up with a red face, acting a bit resistant. She curled one leg up and lay sideways, looking small, pitiful, helpless, but also oddly tempting. “How about… we stop?”

“You don’t really look like you want to stop.”

If anything, she looked even more tempting.
