Chapter 403: In Class
“An Han~ why is your skin getting better and better?”
In class, An Han rested her chin on one hand, lost in thought. Lin Yi, who sat next to her, leaned over shamelessly. With a face full of envy, she reached out and gently pressed An Han’s cheek.
Under her fingertip, An Han’s soft cheek sank in a little. Only then did An Han lift her head and say in a tired, hopeless tone, “Can you stop touching me?”
“I already thought your skin was great before! But recently it feels even better!”
An Han’s skin used to be fair and smooth, but now it looked rosy and glowing. Sitting by the classroom window, sunlight fell on her. Her clear, delicate skin almost seemed to shine through. Just sitting there quietly, she looked like a beautiful painting.
“You must be secretly using some skincare products and not telling me!”
“No way…”
An Han frowned slightly. She hadn’t even noticed any change herself. She reached up and touched her face. It still felt as smooth as ever.
The system hadn’t given her any extra stats recently, right?
So was her skin better because she had a regular schedule and ate healthier?
But she had stayed up late most of last night. That didn’t sound healthy at all.
“So lucky,” Lin Yi sighed. “Even if you get a pimple, it disappears fast and leaves no mark. Unlike me, my skin is uneven, and my color isn’t even.”
Honestly, An Han couldn’t see any uneven spots on Lin Yi’s face.
She looked at Lin Yi more closely and then noticed, this girl was actually wearing makeup in class.
Maybe this was what people called “no-makeup makeup.”
“Come on, tell me. How did you get such good skin?”
“Probably… a regular sleep schedule!”
An Han didn’t really believe that herself, but Lin Yi did. She groaned and collapsed onto the desk. “So staying up late really ruins your skin~”
Feeling a bit guilty, An Han turned her head to look out the window. Since she’d been staying up late and the system hadn’t added any points, the only reason her skin could be better was…
Because she had been “working hard” and absorbing Su Peng’s “energy”?
Because of that unhealthy thought, the tips of her ears turned slightly red.
“You’re blushing!” Lin Yi said.
“What is there to blush about…”
“Could it be because… Su Peng has already ‘eaten’ you, so your skin got better?”
Why did this girl talk so boldly without any shame at all?!
You’re a girl too, okay?!
An Han denied it strongly. “No! Don’t talk nonsense! Spreading rumors is illegal!”
“So how does it feel~?”
Her face turned bright red from the teasing. She pretended not to care and looked around at the other students in the class.
She didn’t know when it started, but less than half the students were showing up to class.
Most third-year students had become lazy. After figuring out the teacher’s style, they chose to skip class and stay in the dorms. A small number had already started internships.
“What is Kexin doing now?” An Han asked, trying to change the topic, and successfully getting Lin Yi off the teasing track.
“She wanted to be a teacher. I think her family helped her get a job at a kindergarten.”
Studying computer science but becoming a kindergarten teacher, that was quite a big change.
When the topic turned to internships, Lin Yi also looked more worried. College life was almost over, and many students were starting to feel anxious about the future.
She lay on the desk like a dead fish and sighed. “I’ve already started reading books for the civil service exam. If I don’t pass, I’m totally done~”
“You can take the exam more than once.”
“More than once…? If I do that, my parents will kick me out of the house and tell me to go get a job.”
An Han had also thought about taking the civil service exam. Her “guaranteed pass” ability was almost made for this kind of exam.
As for certificates that were too technical, even if she passed the exam using that ability and got the certificate, she still wouldn’t actually know how to do the work. She could only show it off a little. Sooner or later, she would be exposed when looking for a real job.
Some certificates could be “attached” to companies to make money, but that was against the rules and could even get her into trouble.
The civil service exam was different. There were many positions, and there would always be one suitable for her. A stable job for life, and it would also make Su Peng’s parents like her more, perfect!
Now she just needed to test the side effects of the “guaranteed pass” ability during the final exams…
“When finals are over, I’ll sign up for a prep course,” Lin Yi said with a worried face. The usually carefree girl looked unusually unsure of herself. “Studying on my own is definitely slower than taking a class.”
“Isn’t it expensive?”
“It’s fine. I do part-time jobs and have saved quite a bit.”
When money was mentioned, An Han’s eyes lit up.
Su Peng had already lost financial support from his family, and he was still an intern. His salary plus An Han’s allowance was just enough to get by. They spent almost everything they earned, and their savings were slowly shrinking.
“What kind of part-time jobs do you usually do?”
“All kinds. But the best-paying ones are anime expos and car shows. You can make several hundred in a day.”
An Han’s face immediately fell.
Back when she was still male, she could wear a qipao and cross-dress at anime expos to make money. She could even tell herself that letting other men look at her wasn’t a loss, and joke that she was taking advantage of the boss.
But now she was a girl and she even had a boyfriend.
A job like that, showing herself in public and having a slightly suggestive feel, really didn’t suit her anymore. If she wasn’t careful, it might even trigger system tasks and force her to do all kinds of awful and embarrassing things.
Lin Yi noticed her resistance. She sat up with a teasing look, bumped An Han with her shoulder, and tempted her. “As a girl, being pretty is also a kind of resource~ And it’s just a few gross men looking at you, that’s all~”
“Let’s forget it…”
I’ll just rely on cheating with the system instead.
The class bell rang. An Han didn’t want to stay on this topic anymore. She avoided Lin Yi’s gaze and said, “Stop talking. Class is starting.”
“I’ll just read properly,” Lin Yi said.
She pulled out a book of real exam questions from under the desk and flipped through it with a dead, hopeless expression.
Looking at how forced she seemed, and how her eyes kept darting around, An Han knew she wasn’t taking in a single word.
Sure enough, less than two minutes later, Lin Yi leaned over again. “An Han~ want to have lunch together at noon?”
“Yeah.”
“An Han~ I heard that Chen Junjie from your dorm broke up?”
“Yeah.”
“An Han~ you already took the only handsome guy in our class. How about you recommend a few for me to meet?”
Now An Han was no longer sleepy. A handsome face immediately appeared in her mind, and she said a name jokingly, “How about Ren Chi?”
“Ren Chi? Who’s that?”
“You don’t even know our counselor’s name?”
Lin Yi froze for a moment, then got excited. “Teacher–student romance? That actually sounds pretty good.”
“He’s just a bit short, though. Only a little over 1.7 meters. He is pretty handsome, to be fair…”
An Han felt a small stab in her heart.
If “a little over 1.7 meters” was considered short, then back when she was male and not even 1.7 meters tall, Lin Yi would probably have labeled her as disabled.
“He’s not short, okay? He’s already above average!” An Han argued hard for Ren Chi’s height.
“I’m almost 1.7 meters myself. If I wear high heels, he might not even be taller than me.”
“Have you ever thought that maybe you’re just too tall?”
“How is that possible?”
