Chapter 166: Sharing

Because Peiya’s home was very far from here, Elise naturally asked her to stay overnight.

Of course, that wasn’t the only reason. She probably just wanted to spend more time looking at her.

During these days, Peiya had more and more felt Elise’s bold, almost aggressive gaze. It was as if Elise was always thinking about which piece of clothing to take off first.

This left Peiya unsure what to say. She only felt that if things kept going like this, her situation would become very awkward. Luckily, the manor was especially quiet tonight. Peiya sat up from her bed, and from here she could clearly see the bench in the distance.

It was the one where she and Elise often sat in the back garden to drink tea. Even this room had been carefully arranged, many pieces of furniture matched Peiya’s taste. Being here felt just like being at home.

It was clear that Elise had put a lot of thought into preparing all this.

Or maybe she had been planning it for a long time.

Of course, Peiya didn’t feel like thinking too much about it now. At least the result was good. She raised her hand and looked at her clear, smooth palm for a while. Then, feeling sleepy, she fell asleep.

Not long after she fell asleep, the door quietly opened a small crack. Like a mother checking if her child was sleeping well, Elise gently pushed the door open without making any sound.

Seeing that Peiya was sleeping deeply, she waited by the side for a while. When there was still no sign of her waking up, Elise sat on the edge of the bed and lightly pulled at the blanket, which had twisted tightly around Peiya’s legs.

But it didn’t help much. The blanket was still wrapped around her legs, leaving only half of one smooth foot exposed.

With no other choice, Elise had to check where exactly it was tangled. This definitely wasn’t because she wanted to touch Peiya’s foot, she had no other option. As her hand moved around, it first touched the ankle, then the soft skin near the heel.

It felt like a lawn after rain, soft and slightly damp, as if something would come out if you pressed it.

Carefully, she loosened the tangled part. Only then did she realize that Peiya’s two feet had twisted together like a spinning braid, trapping the sheet. Just as she moved one foot aside, Peiya turned over, pressing the sheet under her body again.

That made things troublesome. If she tried to move her too suddenly, she might wake her up. So Elise could only keep lifting one of her feet, trying to free the sheet from under her. The process sounded simple, but in practice it wasn’t that easy.

The core problem was obvious. This girl’s sleeping posture was really bad.

Even if you fixed one side, the other side would cause trouble again.

Like solving one problem only to create another.

Seeing that things might go on like this and Peiya could catch a cold, Elise finally took another blanket from the cabinet. She added a thinner blanket on top of the original one, mainly covering Peiya’s stomach.

After finishing everything, Elise reached out and gently moved the loose strands of hair that Peiya had been biting out of her mouth.

But maybe she used a bit too much force. Peiya’s eyes twitched slightly. Elise’s breathing suddenly stopped, and her hand froze in the air. Her heart pounded loudly.

Only after things calmed down did Elise quietly tuck in the corner of the blanket. She then prepared to leave, but saw Peiya kick off the new blanket again and turn over, rolling right onto her.

Elise was startled by what suddenly happened, but she didn’t make a sound. She held back her excitement. She noticed that Peiya kept pushing forward and even pulling at her clothes.

She probably thought of her as a blanket without realizing it. Elise tried to gently move the small body off her, but Peiya seemed determined to “use” this blanket. They tugged back and forth for a while, until Elise finally gave her outer coat. Only then did Peiya stop.

As if she smelled something familiar, Peiya, who had been moving around just now, suddenly became quiet.

Seeing this, Elise felt a small sense of happiness. Finding little signs that the other person liked her was something very special. She felt that everything happened a bit suddenly, but also like it was meant to be this way.

Even though she knew she might hear complaints from “Little Potato” again in the morning, the feelings she had at this moment were real.

She stood up and pulled the curtain open just a little, carefully adjusting it so that the light wouldn’t shine into Peiya’s eyes. Only after making sure everything was just right did she relax.

Then she went back and sat where she was before, watching the girl hugging her clothes tightly, not wanting to let go. Deep inside, Elise felt an unprecedented sense of satisfaction. Still, she lay down on the bed as well, as if imagining what it would feel like to be held by her.

It was a pity that Peiya’s earlier movement had been too sudden. Thinking about it now, Elise realized she didn’t want Peiya to let go at that time… she even wished she had done a bit more.

But those were just thoughts after the fact. Elise quietly watched Peiya’s sleeping face, as if time had stopped at this moment. She couldn’t feel time passing at all. Watching the changes in her expression, she wondered what kind of dream Peiya was having.

Elise didn’t know what the meaning of doing this was, but she kept observing like she would never get tired, almost like she was trying to read and understand something deeply. This reminded her of the expressions she used to see on adults’ faces when she was young.

At banquets, Elise would hold her doll and hide carefully behind the adults, watching them laugh, talk, and raise their glasses together. Just when she wanted to go out, she would notice that everyone’s attention had suddenly turned to her.

She would quickly hide again. Being the center of attention made her feel uncomfortable, something she couldn’t easily talk about. But ever since she was young, she often received such looks. Luckily, her mother was very gentle.

Her mother would take little Elise to a small, quiet room, take out some snacks from her bag, and tell her to wait there until they finished eating. She would also remind her not to eat too much candy, or it would hurt her teeth.

After giving these instructions, Elise would stand there in a daze, holding unopened candy in her hand. She would take her doll, a cup, pour some black tea, and start “drinking” with the doll.

She copied the adults’ behavior, trying to understand why they did such things.

After trying for a while, she opened a piece of candy. At first, she wanted to share it with the doll, but when she smelled the sweet scent, she immediately put it into her own mouth without thinking.

Thinking about this now, Elise suddenly felt her vision become a little blurry. Back then, she didn’t want to share with the doll at all, she felt it was hers. After so many years, she had almost forgotten about it.

But remembering it now, it seemed that when facing Peiya, she felt the same way.

She really didn’t want to share her with anyone else… at all.
