Chapter 96: The Resentful Woman
This week, Tian Siyi released her first album. On the very first day, its downloads made it into the top ten of the charts. Although it did not reach number one, staying in the top ten for several days was already a pretty good result for a new singer.
Chen Hui rarely came over in the afternoon, but today she came to celebrate with them. She also brought along a young woman who looked like a student.
“Siyi, I brought you the assistant you've been waiting for.”
The young woman was carrying two large bags of luggage. She gave them a small bow.
“Hello, Teacher Chen. Hello, Teacher Tian. My name is Mei Xinru. You can just call me Xiaoru.”
“That’s a lot of stuff. Put it down first,” Tian Siyi said. She had not expected her to bring so much luggage. She must be planning to stay here, right? Luckily, there was an empty room.
But Chen Hui stopped her.
“No need. She’s only here to say hello to you two. She won’t be staying with you.”
“Then why does she have so much luggage...?”
“There happens to be an empty apartment upstairs. I rented it for her. She’ll live there from now on. Once your instructor comes, she can stay there with her.”
Mei Xinru turned to Chen Hui.
“Then I’ll go upstairs first, Sister Hui.”
“Okay, go ahead. Remember to come down and eat with us later.”
After sending Mei Xinru upstairs, Chen Hui walked into the house.
Tian Siyi asked, “Why didn’t you let her stay here? We have an empty room, don’t we?”
Renting another place was still a considerable expense. Although Tian Siyi was no longer short of money, she still believed that they should save money whenever they could.
Chen Hui smiled.
“How could I let them disturb your time alone together?”
“Sis, what are you talking about?” Tian Siyi rolled her eyes. She and Chen Chen were not even officially dating yet. What time alone together was she talking about?
“You already called me ‘Sis,’ and you’re still arguing about this? Anyway, congratulations today. Your first album did pretty well.”
“It only did well because I took advantage of the popularity of Star Dome Adventure. The next album will show my real ability.”
Chen Hui nodded with satisfaction. It was good that Tian Siyi was not getting proud just because she had achieved some success.

“Speaking of your new songs, are you some kind of rabbit? How can you produce so many songs?”
Tian Siyi looked at Chen Chen with a helpless expression and complained, “Why are you just like your brother? Is writing songs quickly a bad thing?”
Chen Hui smiled.
“Not at all. I just wanted to ask, this line, ‘Even though I miss you so much, my heart is still full of worry. I just want to keep asking you, do you really love me?’ Who are you talking about? The songs you've been writing lately seem to have quite a lot of resentment in them.”
Tian Siyi secretly glanced at Chen Chen, then quickly looked away. She pretended to be casual.
“No, I’m not talking about anyone. They’re just normal lyrics. What do I have to be resentful about? Didn’t you say my voice is suitable for love songs now? Love songs are always about people getting together and breaking up, right?”
She gave such a long explanation that it only made her look even more suspicious.
Chen Chen understood what the two women were talking about. Feeling a little embarrassed, he simply went into the kitchen to prepare the ingredients.
Chen Hui glanced at Chen Chen before turning back to Tian Siyi.
“If you really couldn’t wait, you should have been more direct when we were at my house. I don’t believe that if you really threw yourself at him, he would have pushed you away.”

“You could do some things that only couples can do.”
“Forget it. I’m only a freshman. If I really ended up getting pregnant, what would we do?”
“What are you afraid of? At worst, you could take a year off from school. I have enough influence to handle that.”
“Forget it. It still wouldn’t look good.”
Tian Siyi had a point. Their current relationship was already quite similar to that of a newly dating couple. If they really took that final step, it was hard to say whether it would be a good thing or a bad thing.
But if she was really this relaxed about it, why did her songs sound so full of resentment?
“Then why did you write lyrics like that?”

“I mean the five songs you gave me this time. Every one of them sounds like it was written by a woman full of complaints.”
“This...” Tian Siyi scratched her cheek. She really hadn’t thought that much about it. She simply wrote whenever she had inspiration.
Chen Hui crossed her arms over her chest and sat across from Tian Siyi with one leg crossed over the other. She just wanted to see how Tian Siyi was going to explain herself.

“So you really were full of resentment?”
“There definitely was some resentment, especially during those few days. But I mostly just kept it to myself. At most, I would make things a little difficult for him.”
Chen Hui sighed. “You’re just too easygoing. You can be a little more selfish sometimes. If you never even lose your temper a little, can you really call yourself a woman?”

Chen Hui changed the subject.
“Let’s stop talking about this. Why did you suddenly want to act in a movie?”
“There happened to be an opportunity, so I wanted to give it a try.” Tian Siyi asked cautiously, “Are you going to say that I’m neglecting my real work?”
Chen Hui shook her head. “Of course not. Quite a few famous singers have also become movie stars. You’re a singer who writes her own songs, so having more different experiences will also help your songwriting. I’m just curious. How did you suddenly become interested in acting?”

“Of course you can. But you should be careful. That director may not be very nice to you.”
“Why?”
